It's a place where all the backpackers stay in flea pits, eat shit Thai food, deal with the most weary farang hating Thai's, get treated like dirt, pay WAY over the odds for most things.....but all of this they think they are doing better than everybody else. They leave with wonderful stories of having stayed in real Thailand.
Go figure!

My memories of KhaoSanRoad are about where my pick-up car halted on our way to the Bangkok bus stand to catch the bus to Phuket. I don't know if it was on the way. He had to pick up another group from that road. So crowded and lined with touristy shops İand hawkers on either side of the road. There was a D&D inn, I remember. And since I was hungry there was a good FF joint from where I bought a cheese and cabbage baguette neatly packed in thermocol carrybag. The baguette was so large I could not finish it on the bus. And, of course, there were plenty of dirty looking farangs with long hair and dirty teeth hanging about in the restaurants. Luckily there was a toilet İin one of the buildings which the FF chap guided me to. The toilet was clean, but there was this hippy type farang who was pulling out tissues by the metre from the dispenser and generally pretending to wipe his hands. Those are my short but lasting memories of KSR. Nothing to draw me back there again, unless I take the pick-up car again from my hotel on a future trip to reach the bus stand to Phuket -- which is very likely.

Guys,this place is not so bad......have been there for one week,at my first trip to Thailand.Place is changed from 2001.......it's not cheap anymore,dont have plenty of cheapest freelancers,or girl that going with you for free.Nice to visit sometimes,but not more than this.If you want to pick up a girl there,so learn Hebrew(I think 70% speaking this language on Kaosan),and seat in the lobby of D&D hotel.Young Israeli girls,so naive sometimes.......
