Is it possible the 'Thai' experience is something one grows
into and then grows out of again never to return.
Bad experiences with relationships, bad marriage and generally
either lied to or ripped-off and things turn sour.
Is Thailand just a stage in one's life that is experienced and
then one moves on or goes back to the lifestyle one had before
that first tip to LOS?
Do we kid ourselves ? Is it really possible to have a long lasting
relationship with someone from such a different culture?
Girls that want to leave Thailand because the Western grass looks
greener on the other side and the streets look like they are paved
with gold. It gets cold and wet and the new hubby doesn't have quite
as much money as had been hoped for. The streets could be paved with
gold but like any modern country it is necessary to earn a lot of
gold to comfortably walk them.
That often used phrase,"you can take the girl out of Thailand but you
cannot take Thailand ou of the girl." Well used and the word 'Bar' is
easily substituted for Thailand. They mean much the same with regard
to Farang?
There are of course exceptions that prove the rule but for how many
here is Thailand just a passing phase ?
Or are you addicted forever ??

have you consider the Lunatic Fringe for a future title and occupation. We now have a beginners "kit" which in cludes inflatable trainer shoes, squekin nose, and jr. lapel squirting flower.

I do not accept your choices: between passing phase or addiction.
I live here and yes I have a longterm relationship (15 years) with a lady I met in a bar. I took the girl out of the bar and the bar out of the girl, so, it can be done.
You are dealing in platitudes and overgeneralizations. Even Trink is a deeper thinker, and Bozo the Clown a better philosopher.

The same can be said about the girl next door. Relationships all over the world go sour every day if you dont work at them. I guess you haven't contributed to the growing divorce rate recently, like many of us.
Relationships which fall apart are not just peculiar to Thail ladies and their partners. My guess is also that you haven't been married??????????? or been in a serious relationship.

My question arose from a conversation with a freind who had just been 'turned over' by a Thai woman.
He does not want to return. I wondered how many
other people feel this way after a bad experience?
Sauron may be the exception that proves a rule.
I have seen many Farang-Thai relationships go wrong.
