A girl that I consider to be my friend is hooked on Yaba. In LOS, I did it a few times. I found it exciting, but it didn't compare to MDMA(XTC) which I used during my teens(into the rave scene). Disclaimer: I don't do any drugs anymore, coffee is the strongest stimulant I use (thanks to bloody StarBucks.)
Anyway, although I smoked maybe half a tablet per day for only 3 days, the down wasn't pleasant at all.
What worries me is that from what I could make out, she is a sweet TG(BG). But, she showed all the classic symptoms of someone who binges on the stuff... (She smoked it a few times a day.)
Extreme higs, laughter, aggressive behavior(esp. in bed), excessive excitation, excessive talking, extreme sense of confidence and power, delusions of grandeur leading to aggressive behavior and absolutely uninterested in food. While I won't disagree, when we were both high, the sex was out of this world.
However, when it started wearing off, she was depressed, extremely tired, crying and so very sad.
Now from all the research I've read on the net, it sounds like she is a lost cause. I mean 70% of the users with high social and family support don't recover, so what will happen to this TG?
Even her emails seem different during different days. One day it is sad and lonely, next she is on top of the world... writing to me to "f_cking leave everything" and come to LOS and she will take care of me with what she earns. Next(when it is the sad letter), she writes, "I miss you", "I know we are so far apart and you have responsibilities", "I am so sad that we will never be together..., I wish the world would end".
It makes me sad and anxious as I feel helpless to help her.
Does anyone know what happens to these TG(BG)s who use it so frequently? I mean, do they OD and die? Do they get treatment? Or do they get sent to Prison(yikes)?
Is there anyway to get her help?

Smoking gives a rush. Sollowing gives a high after 10-15 minutes.
Smoking is like kinda like freebasing. Easy method is take the "silver" packet from inside a cigerette pack, using a lighter, burn the edge, tear it at both ends, then rip the "pure" aluminum sheet. Place the tablet in the "new" aluminum wrapper, then use a lighter to heat the wrapper. Use a pipe(straw) to inhale the smoke. Some do it with spoons, but problems may arise with hiding the evidence.
I know this section is about girls. And, well, I think this topic has to do with girls and there use of Yaba.
Also, I don't reccomend anyone do it. It sucks.

It depens on every case and case.Used to know girl,that smoked 5+ pills every day(in the good days before the crackdown),but when she went outside Thailand she stoped cause it no ya-ba there.
This shit good but very addictive and expensive now,I feel for this girl,however you must understand that her enviroment will not let her do it another way.It's very easy-girls stay together,drinking,smoking ya ba and playing cards.They going out to find customer only when they need to buy more and have no money.So you see them afternoon in soi 7 and later in Thermae,Nana disco and Grace...:-(
Anyway,just want to mention that it's never late,and ya ba it's not bad like heroin,so juts try to change your girl environment-new location,new friends etc.

Yep, the girls will say its not addictive, but seems not the case, they generally smoke/inhale it in their apartment prior to going out, and certainly contributes to the mood swings, they all have in any case ! Just another reason I feel to, if your really keen, get them out of Bangkok, and staying with family if at all possible. In Thai style, if one girl in the 'group' is a user, you can be fairly certain all her friends are as well ....

How do I spot a girl that is addicted ( 1 or more times a day ) as to a girl who is a regular user ( 1 or more times aweek ).
What are some signs other than disinterest in food, aggressive, or super talkative ( word ? ) ?
I assume different girls use it for different reasons but is the sex better for the girls ?
What is "yaba" ? I was first told that yaba = drugs, am I right or is yaba a specific type of a drug ?

Yaba is indeed a drug.
this was talked about before on another thread,but cannot remember which one,otherwise i would point you in the right drection.
is a form of Speed(methamphetamine).

that might solve some of the questions.
I'm a newbie to LOS so I'm no expert at all, but a couple of BGs had told me that yaba is quite common in the beerbar & gogo scene.
The stuff doesn't seem to be harmless to me, it's highly addictive and has some serious side effects. I saw and experienced some BGs that showed clear signs of the extreme mood swings - from cheerful/funny/manic/aggressive to depressed/silent/inactive and back within a couple of hours.
This drug might explain some of the occasionally erratic and otherwise incomprehensive BG behaviour. If I had a (real!) BG friend with a yaba problem, I would try everything to get the stuff out of her system - which probably requires a complete change of life style.

I was with a girl hooked on Yabba for the last 18 months. While you are not there in person to support her mentally and morally there is no hope for her. I liken the drug to speed or amphetamines and the side affects are the same - mood swings, lies etc.... the normal things you expect from a drug addict. The girls all love it because they have this dillusion about must being thin or no Farang will want them so they do Yabba, it also helps them work the long nights.
I believe i have successfully rehabillitated a homeless street girl who was addicted to Yabba. Love, understanding, patience and be willing to forgive the lies is what you will have to do. Above all DONT let her have extras money in her pocket, that way she can't buy it. You have to be there to do that tho.
Goodluck - she'd want to be pretty special.

Yaba is Methamphetamine. It usually comes in orange color. Atleast in Canada and LOS.
I've done it a few times before (most recently in LOS). It gives a tremendous ruch, but the "downer" just sucks. The down is worse than XTC(MDMA).
I feel helpless as I am in Canada and she is in LOS.
Well, I only can wish her the best, since no matter what I say, I can bet she is not going to end her use of Yaba.
Oh well, hope she doesn't come out of this situation badly.
To get the effects of Yaba, try taking 5 Xenadrine by breaking the capsules and wait for 10 minutes. That's pretty much the same feeling.
Also, the smell of the smoke is unique and extremely "yummy".
