I know alot been said here before re TG/Singles/Dating agencies etc, - and also of course the majority of visitors to the LOS are here for A good time, a few short times, - and not interested in long term Thai Girl/wife etc - however, having just got yet another detailed letter, from a well qualified Businessman, think this should be repeated - This Guy met an upper class TG, she had car/business etc .. of course he was aware of Bar girls/freelancers, in some cases, just being out for what they can get, but THOUGHT this was different, so married her, - 6 months and 6 million baht later, he is back in the US, she is at a local resort with the next victim, and he wants to know if he can reclaim some of his money ! [ 2 hopes, Bob & none.] Anyway, this is where I feel a plug for SOME agencies, and in particular I can quote <www.thaino1.com> is worthwhile, if you are serious re a Thai wife, as they run full background checks on all the girls listed, plus have some solid interviews with them, before putting them on the books - may cost a bit to join, but the safest way I know of actually hyaving a reasonable idea of what your getting ! Also they are very good at handling the long and involved business of getting marriage Visas etc. [ Re Thai No1, - if you do contact "Nung" or her Welsh husband, Arthur, say "Warren" sent you - and you may get a discount !] Note not all agencies are so reliable- and many of those that just sell address's need to be treated with care - not all the girls actually exist !

A good reminder of the importance of takinig it slowly. I have seen examples of TG'd wanting to move fast. By marriage in EU the wife normally is entitled to half of the equity, i.e. aapprtment/house, money in the bank. If you marry in LOS how easy/diffcult is it to get divorce there and are there rules for split of the equity?
Many of us come out of previous marriages and don't want to pay up one more time if it does not work out.

seems like in most cases, - the "farang" starts off a long handicap ! - I would think the best advice, no matter who she is, is to keep the majority of your assests tucked away in your native country, if you live/marry here - then if it ever gets to tough, just do as the young thai guys do up-country, ride off into the sunset ... trying to get shares of business's / houses / land whatever back from Thais, is pretty much a no-win situation, except for the lawyer.
