Many many times this phrase "Cultural Differences" comes up on this board. Now even though i have been here many times , i'm still not really any wiser as to what these differences are - so those of you"long in the tooth" - please can you give a list of issues and how "WE"might approach them and "THEY" would -
how much of these differences are due to religion and lifestyle - and how many simply because we lack the same common points of reference viz the media ( ie we remember totally different TV, music, and movie stars ) and have been taught entirely different histories ( ie western biased vs eastern )
hope all this makes some sense ! I await your "HE SAYS" vs "SHE SAYS" lists with glee.
I am hoping that the resulting thread will help me and other TG newbies to avoid some of the more common hurdles and bloopers to come...

Differences are less then you would expect. Women are pretty much the same the world over. They want the same things from a man that a American, European, Arab, Africian women want.
Treat them with respect, listen, limit your drinking, don't butterfly. Treat them like a queen in public and f_ck them like your f_cking your favorite supermodel in private. Works like a charm and works equally well in your home country.
Some guys come to LOS and treat the women like shit and pull crap here that they can't get away with in their home country and they wonder why the girls butt f_ck them every chance they get.

From what ÝI hear & read, the one that repeatably comes up is the fact that "TGs will always place more importance on their family members than they will on you - You may be a close second but never a winner".
Something that the western married man tends to or is prepared to change, when he committs to a partner.
If this is a true of view of 90% of TGs and you (the partner) are prepared to accept this view of hers, (ie being prepared to help her family when she asks you to) then its probably one main cultural difference out of the way and one less issue to argue over. But it will cost you money?

Your statement about family is an "asian" cultural thing. Not saying other cultures can not or don't put the same priority on family, but I can only speak for the asian culture. When you date or marry, you get the complete package including family and all. And supporting the family financially is a common occurence.

In addition to this the bros have to be aware that if one is taking a girl out of a bar for a long time relationship, you make her lose her income that she usually sends to her family back home... I also wanted to add that "face" is very important to Thai's and asians ingeneral.
So .... never make a tg or an asian look stupid in public. They might seem passive at that moment, but losing face can many times wake up that dragon inside. And then it can get ugly!!
So ... if you take a bg from a bar and go back to the bar, just be polite to her. Don't blow her off and be an a-hole or you will find difficult times ahead.

I realize that, but it does appear to be stronger with Thais. Granted it exists with Philipinos, Indos, Malays, Viets, Chinese and others.
I am simply comparing the Thais to two others that I personnally, am familiar with.
Have to wait and see (assuming I live long enough),if I can do the rounds with all girls, so as to make a thorough comparison study on their family importance?

I think maybe it seems that way because it is talked about more openly with Thai's then with Chinese. Can't comment on the other asian races, except Korean and Japanese!! ha ha ha!! And since it's talked about openly it's kinda become associated with their culture.
Oh ... one last point. I think that in Thai culture the females family is taken care of. In Chinese, the boys side is #1 with the females side coming in second. So, it's reverse compared to Thai's. Unless I missinterpreted the Thai culture.
