There are times you do feel realy sorry for the girls, specially in cases like this. I understand that family is very important to them, but given how she was being treated by hers, she would have been better off without them.
I just hope that the punters out there treat the girls with some respect - they do deserve that much at least.

Sigh! I thank the stars, or fate, or heavens, or whatever, that my parents are just the opposite. I feel so much love for them right now, I'm almost in tears!
And no, I'm not being sarcastic. I bought my dad a tie recently with my lab-assistant(I'm still in uni) "salary" and his eyes welled up and he kept on talking about it for the whole damn week!
I should feel sad for Nattiya, but I don't. If she was smart, she wouldn't have ended up this way. She should have got the hint the first time round. Too bad, a lot of people have a lot of false ego(face,) Too bad so many people don't plan even a little for their future.
Then again, most Americans and Canadians are drowning in debt!
Besides, in the end it doesn't even matter, Mai Pen Rai, Think about it...

This is the same everywhere (not only limited to TBGs). At the end, it looks as though basic human nature is the same for all cultures: "money my friend - you have it, you my friend"

But it's still sad/funny how the parents treat the girls/ladies. You would think millions of years of evolution would make it almost natural to "protect" your kids.
But then again, Milieu has a stronger effect on humans, so I guess as we are social animals, social norms out-rank natural tendencies.

And heaven help you if you try to tell her not to give it to them...looks like the sweetest, most innocent ones are ALWAYS victimized by lazy brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers, etc...
It's one thing to help out the family, and another to make it so they don't HAVE to help themselves...
If you even SUGGEST that they are being manipulative, your BG will get mad at YOU!

I do feel sad for her, as her own family treated her worse than any custumer probably would have.
During my last trip I did have the fortune of being invited to dinner by friends of my TGF and even though they don't have much, what they did have they shared with me and they did so with a smile, never a thought of them asking for money.
Nattiya family in my eyes are the worst scum, as they happily treat they daughter with such disgust. All I wonder, where is the "Face" in treating your own daughter like that??

Another problem is that after having helped someone often, the one time you can't help, the person forgets about the previous times and gets more upset than he/she would if had you never helped before.
Saying "no" after having always said "yes", makes people forget about all other previous instances, for which they should have been grateful. Say always "no" and one day say "yes" and you are a great guy all of a sudden. Gratitude, sadly, is the shortest lived human emotion.
Somewhere I once read something along these lines: Money doesn't really help you make friends, but it helps you make a better class of enemies.

I don't whether it's the culture or not but in my limited and painful experience the girls seem to be run by the families. Myself and three friends have experienced the same.
The families call the shots and this seems typical. All that work shagging with the Japanese(and they are WEIRD !) and the family hustles for the money. I have heard it so many times. These are the real origins of the dead buffalo stories !
I wonder what the girls would be like IF they had a measure of independence.
They have none at the moment. The strings are still attached. It also ruins any relationship they would like to have. Who wants to marry a family of greedy layabouts. The last couple of chapters of Stephen Leathers' Private Dancer covers this well !!!(the bit about the new four wheel drive motor)

I have witnessed this many times with Thai parents.
They take very well care of the babies when they are small and "naraak", but once they grow up they become the parents' retirement pension plan and nothing else. Many parents don't know exactly what job their children are doing, how they are living or even where they are. And it is absolutely no problem as long as they receive some money or letters saying they are happy.
