My regular BG has now turned a good girl.......I think.
She's been wanting to exit the bar scene for some time. She has attended English and computer classes, and now is employed at an internet shop. I can verify this because I have a video conversation with her a few times each week.
On my next visit to LOS, she has suggested I take her away from her new job for a week or so, probably to Isaan.
What's the protocol here, do I pay her in the usual manner now?? i.e. XXXX baht per day.
Or would she be insulted with a payment because she is very proud to have a regular job.
Any comments welcome.

I think she would be insulted if you pay her in cash since she has made efforts to leave the p4p scene. However, it would be a very nice gesture of you to buy her a gift that she could, if needed, convert to cash. A 24k gold necklace or something like that.

Difficult to judge on these but being subtle is yr best bet, either slip her some "taxi" money into her purse or as mm3 said a nice present! She probably has to forgo wages to accompany you!

She works in an internet shop, is that in sukhumvit? near the action? what time does she finish work? and wonder the streets in search of a........bus to go home on? happily enjoying her new job at probably 4,500baht a month salary for probably a 7 day 12hr a day week possibly surrounded by foriegners wanting to give her a weeks wages for an hour of what she used to do? On top of this, straight after getting her new job she wants to take 1 weeks holiday and go to Isaan with you? very generous employer that gives so much time off let alone just after starting work!
But then again maybe you found the 1 in a million!
Forgive me for being overly sarcastic, just be careful, and the 24K of gold is a no no, western gold gets jack shit over here, far better to buy her some local thai gold which she can sell back at almost the same as you buy it for, if you buy her anything that is.

Good suggestions chaps.
Actually I was thinking of offering to pay her wages for the time away from work, plus a modest gift.
Would her boss expect something like a bar fine to take her away for a week??

If she spends 5 days with you and you would have given her 2000 baht per day, you could buy her some 24k gold jewelry worth 10,000 baht. If she needed the money because she missed work and did not get paid, she could easily sell the item and get cash for it after you left. No face lost on her part. If she did not need the money, it would be something nice to remind her of you and would be worth priceless in brownie points.
