Are good looking girls really in the eyes of the beer-holder, err, beholder?
The real question is this...
As I have never been to a MP in my life and I've read guys paying 5000 to 10000 baht for girls and I have seen the pictures of these gals, it seems some of the "normal" bar-girls or freelancers are relatively or sometimes even more pretty. What gives?
Are the 5000 baht MP girls really that worth it? I mean are they really "that" stunning?

There are numerous explanations of Thai "beauty", but I'll just mention a couple.
Higher end MP girls have more beautiful faces, in the asian sense anyways. ÝThey also have a better complexion, again in the asian sense. ÝAlthough, most of them are from further up north, they're still nothing compared to the Bangkokian Thai Chin chix in this manner of aesthetics. ÝWhat the MP girls lack is a curvy western style body(ie. 36-24-36).
BGs or Issarn girls lack the complexion(in some cases) and have sharper facial structures. ÝI could get flamed for going any further in this objectification by the PC guys so I'll leave it at that. ÝIn general, you don't see the "typical" Issarn go-go girl likeness on TV or Movies. ÝThe ones you do see, have menial service roles(maid, cook, etc...) ÝWhat the BGs are blessed with is a tight well rounded body more pleasing to the western farang. ÝMP girls are just softer, no tone.... ÝOr in other cases, flat as a board.
Now for each person's definition of beauty is particular. ÝIt comes down to: are you a face guy or a body guy? ÝMe, I'm a face guy. ÝI'd rather have a girl with a stunning face with a mediocre body than one with a stunning body and mediocre face. ÝWaking up in the morning and glancing at what's waking up next to you comes to mind. ÝNotice how BG's shovel on the baby powder or makeup? ÝThat's an attempt to become more beautiful in the Thai/Asian sense, white is Good...
So in Thailand, beauty is measured in baht? ÝYes, sorta. ÝBelieve it or not, the main clientele of MPs are Thai. ÝNot Asian nor Farang big spenders. ÝTherefore, the lighter skinned "china dolls" are more in demand than the exotic p0rno star BFMs. ÝThe BFMs aren't in the farang ghetto because they like f_cking farangs, it's because they aren't "the desirables" in the Thai/Asian sense. ÝTrust me, if they were, they wouldn't be shaking their ass in Nana and being BFed 3-4 times a night. ÝThey'd be in a MP "working" half the quantity yet getting paid twice the price.

Atypical's right - there are cultural as well as individual differences in the perception of female beauty, and MP prices are chiefly determined by Thai, not farang, demand. You need only watch a Thai beauty contest to see what rocks the Thai boat. It's what I call the 'Chiang Mai' look - curvy figure, fair skin, rounded face (sometimes with Ýmore than a suggestion of a double chin) & roundish eyes. Sometimes I find this look beautiful in an objective sense. I don't think I've ever found it sexually appealing at all, although some farangs do. Anyway, if you want to impress your Thai friends, this is the kind of bint you need on your arm.
I suspect my own tastes in TGs are far more conventionally farang. Fair skin is OK but - let's face it - nothing yer average Caucasian (Latins excepted, maybe) is going to get excited about. The wonderful golden-brown skin tones of most TGs are far more exotic and appealing. So, I would say, are their triangular facial structures and pronounced cheek bones, which produce a far foxier effect than the Chiang Mai look. Above all, their ultra-slim (almost but not quite skinny) figures match a contemporary farang ideal which women back home find almost impossible to live up to after the age of about 16. Ý
Unfortunately for most TGs, this configuration is commonplace in LOS (we farangs are often staggered by the sheer quantity of gorgeous women around), and so not highly valued locally. In Thai eyes, these features are probably too 'angular' to be beautiful. I suspect cultural conceptions of Ýbeauty are always determined in part by the rarity factor.
Anyway, this is all an unmitigated bonus from the farang male's point of view. He doesn't have to compete with the local high-rollers, and can get the women he wants far cheaper than the women he doesn't want. Also, most of the girls are not in the least bit vain or arrogant - they may know, intellectually, that they're attractive to farang men, but they don't feel that they're anything special because in in local terms most of them aren't.
I have to take issue with atypical's comment about BGs in the farang scene getting BF'd 3 or 4 times a night. I think this applies only to a tiny minority, and they must be fabulously well-off by BG (in fact, any Thai) standards. I think most girls, if they managed to get in one ST and one LT in a night, would regard that as an excellent day's work.

The current Miss Thailand is NOT from Chiang Mai I believe. I watched the whole pageant! :p Anyways, she has an exceptional "THAI" look that is not the ThaiChin style. The Thai nose and structure are delicately pronounced. She is stunning IMHO. My friends disagree. 
On the BG getting BFed 3-4 times... Yes, it is a tiny minority. Overrated Gogo's like angelwitch have a small cadre of BGs whom get BFed multiple times every night. Yes, this is the exception but more common with the "hotter" Nana, SC, and PP bargirls.

Yes, I think that kind of dedicated ST operator (a creature well worth avoiding, imho!) will inevitably gravitate towards bars like Angelwitch, R2 or KC2 which can guarantee the volume.
But a lot of bar-stars just don't want to work like this. They will either raise their prices for the hoi polloi and/or concentrate on ensnaring high rollers for the longer haul (not so easy for the wham-bam ST merchant). I think there are several highly lucrative games stunners can and do play without getting themselves banged silly. Ý Ý

I was talking in generality. Ya, I've been to 3rd floor "model section". The first "model" I had was a former penthouse mag girl, dunno if she was an official pet. Showed me the mag. Anyways, yup she was everything and then some. Bangkok girl, immaculate complexion, amazing chinese face, and a body like that of a Brazilian! I shit you not! I was kind in shock after the session.
Nonetheless in general, most of the Chiang Mai MP girls I end up hooking up with are NOT like the mentioned above. It's a rarity in that regard.
Who knows, maybe you just have better luck or radar than I...

Well, I don't think that sort of conspicuous consumption is very unusual, and it's certainly not confined to Thais.
How many people own Mercs, not because they give a f_ck about cars, but because they've gotta show they can afford a Merc?
For that matter, how many people own Impressionist paintings who couldn't tell the difference between a Renoir and a Rembrandt?
Anyway, TG-wise, I'm only too delighted for the big spenders to splurge their loot on women of no great interest to me. Whatever their motives, I approve. If, instead, they started driving the prices of the women I DO want up to B5-10k, it would soon put a nasty dent in the old finances. Ý
