Volunteers helped a woman give birth when she went into labour on a busy Bangkok street – with the moment filmed by a passing journalist on his iPhone.
The woman, in her late teens, was walking along Sukhumvit Soi 71 on Tuesday morning when she went into labour.
Local motorcycle taxi drivers and passersby helped the woman deliver a baby girl at a shed in front of Jusco supermarket before medics arrived at the scene.
Both mother and baby were reported to be in good condition.
Daniel Kestenholz, a Swiss journalist based in Bangkok, noticed the crowd as he walked towards the Phra Khanong BTS skytrain station and captured the scene with his smartphone.
"I saw people gathering and thought it was an accident. The young woman was already lying on a bench and people took care of her," he said.
Volunteers helped comfort the teenage mother before professional help arrived.
