I was reading sadly about the bars being pushed back to a 1AM closing time, or even midnight, and was wondering whether or not anyone had heard the absolute latest? January 22 is coming awfully quickly.
Perhaps 1AM is enough for some of you, but for some of the other guys I read up here and in my own case, I can't stand the clocks being pushed back even further. I remember not that long ago when the last call was 4 or 5 or whenever the bar wanted to close, basically, especially in Pattaya.
it's not that I stay out late all that often; maybe 2 or 3 times a month at the most. But the point is that I would like to have the freedom to do so and not be told when to go home like a little kid. I thought 2AM was pretty bad; if they go back to midnight or 1 it could make the terms 'nightlife' and 'bangkok' incompatible. how the hell can a city be considered to have any nighlife at all if they close their doors at midnight?
please, if anyone has any updated information on this terrible development, do share

Not much in the newspapers or gossip columns here. The Asia Bugle seems to think it may go ahead. Hey, its Thailand. No one knows and when it happens, everywhere will be different. Its part of the Thai way of life.
Basics? Patpong seems like it will be better off with its power and an OK new police chief. Cowboy and Nana could see more difficult times. Pattaya will do better than Phuket.

A one hour earlier closing is essentially no change at all. Even if opening time is fixed inflexibly at 6 PM, you still have 7 hours which is not so different from 8. Just drink faster and screw sooner.
Since almost everyone gets here with serious jet lag anyway, setting your body clock to consider 1 AM as closing time shouldn't be that hard. Waking up an hour earlier may help you get more mileage out of your LT's, too.

The bars in Soi 22 are already required to close by 1am (as of Jan. 1).
Apparantly because it's near a school.

The problem will not be in getting the customers to adjust, but the BG's they show up around 7:00 PM then they have to eat and put make-up on so its 8:00 PM by then. I doubt if they will adjust their hours.

there is no indication as of yet that the streetcafes (from sukhumvit soi 5 up to soi 19) will have to close.
however, we don't know what will happen, do we.

Right you usually work until 10:00 PM, you might have to start bringing a bottle to work and "G" strings for your female workers. It's time for an alternative plan.

just before songkran, there is going to be a miss teddybear contest at the factory.
it will be time then to choose: housemouse, maid1, maid2, maid+, personal assistant and junior personal assistant.
one of my personal favourites is going to be the current "junior documentation officer".
I am nominated as a judge already.
