American tourist arrested for allegedly buying sex from 16-year-old Thai boy

Pattaya - An American tourist was arrested late Monday night while allegedly buying sex from a 16-year-old Thai boy inside a gay bar in this seaside resort town.
Pol Lt Col Wutthichart Luansukhon, a tourist police officer of Pattaya, said the American was identified as Ronald D Sims, 44, from Kansas.
Wutthichart led a team of tourist police to raid the Diamond Blue Sky bar on South Pattaya Road in Chon Buri's Bang Lamug district at about half an hour after midnight.
He said police caught Sims allegedly in the act with the boy on a small room on the second floor of the bar.
Police also arrested the bar manager, Jare Rathum, 27 and charged him with soliciting underage boys for prostitution. Police also rounded up 22 boys under 18 years old from the bar.

If he was fully aware, or it was fairly obvious, that the guy was underage, then som nam na, he deserves all he gets.
However maybe he did not realise, or suspect, that the guy was underage, in which case it is a little harsh that he is going to be done and labelled a paedophile for the rest of his days. Maybe the lad looked around 20 years old
How many of us here could easily find ourselves in a similar situation. A number of the soapies etc in the past have been rumoured to have underage girls there. Imagine you had just gone out for a soapie, innocently chosen a girl from the FB, assuming she must be legal age, then the BIB raid the place and bang you up for underage sex.

Owner name “Jare Rathum”, sounds like a non Thai name, so as I read it two farangs banged up, but tell me is there one law for farang and one for Thai’s, I mean there must have been managers (Papasam), Cashiers, etc, in this vial business who new what was going on and profited from it, what has happened to them.

Yes, 22 people deemed under age rounded up. But something tells me these young people were not on their first night on the job. It smells like somebody didn't make payroll or it was time to catch the falangs being their usual bad selves.
Irregardless, that is bad and someone (many) should be punished.
