I think its the quite ones you should be careful of.

Interesting video. I have also heard of this before. The surgeon featured had personally performed more than 36 reattachment operations, so it's not uncommon, without exactly being an everyday occurrence.
I feel, like one of the guys who posted under the video, that there is a strange double standard in play here. This story was covered in a factual enough way by the video makers, but also without any sense of outrage. As the poster said, if the story had been about men cutting off the breasts of unfaithful wives or girlfriends as punishment, it would have been treated very differently.
I guarantee that if you tell female friends about the story, they will respond with some degree of amusement, even guys will often respond in a similar way.
It's strange when you consider the consequences.
One thing is for sure, if that ever happened to me, I would not rest until the person who it did suffered 10 times more than I had.

Interestingly I have never read about the gaol sentences handed out to these criminals ( hope they don't get sent to the penal colony in Aus).

I'm not so sure about that. Unfortunately, domestic violence against women, even murderous violence, more often than not goes unpunished in Thailand.
Especially if the perpetrator has the right money and connections, as some famous cases have shown.
But even upcountry, it's just not pursued much. When that shit happens, Thais are more apt to regard it as, "Rueang Poowa-Mia gun"; that is, a private issue between husband and wife, and interference by a third party is hated. Especially by the men. You guys know this already. Another wonderful facet of educate-to-subjugate in Land of Smiles.
Of course, in no way does that justify cutting off men's penises either. No, it just shows that Rule of Law breaks down at the front door of the domicile.
