US warns: Terrorist threat to Bangkok

The US embassy in Thailand has alerted its citizens to possible terrorist attacks in Bangkok.
The embassy said in a messaged posted on its website today that foreign terrorists may be currently looking to conduct attacks against tourist areas in Bangkok in the near future.
US citizens are urged to exercise caution when visiting public areas where large groups of Western tourists gather in Bangkok, it added.
The embassy urged its nationals to stay alert when going out and to report any suspicious objects to authorities.
We also encourage you to keep a low profile in public areas, particularly areas frequented by foreign tourists, it said.

This is a serious threat. A message like this is not sent out with unconfirmed rumors as the source. Something is going on that is a very real threat.

I flew into Thailand when a curfew was in place (when the reds were blocking some streets) emirates from Sydney landed at 1am-
The airport supplied the people going down town prior to 4am (when it was lifted) a stamp on a piece of paper to show soldiers along the highway - (who pulled over cars)
Later the next day I went to the Reds not far from MBK with a box of colas and had a friendly chat-
My embassy had warned of unessential travel and various dangers-
Over the years Embassies get information- usually hot on the heels of some international news (like Americans pissing on dead Muslim fighters)
In the south of Thailand we know some elements are Vocal and Muslim - Bangkok has heard these threats before-
I don't worry about such information - but when its current - might do things like go to Cowboy Go Gos instead of (Nana Go gos where its built up and more dense with several floors-)
That would be a target-
I also avoid western Pubs -
But other than that - I don't moderate much the script-
I am not saying they haven't received info - but I also add that such precautions have to be given when its verified as possible-
Example a guy says 6 Muslim dudes have put on bomb belts and/or made a car explosive and are going to hang around nana and/or some western disco-
The caller has a muslim accent and sounds concerned- the phone tap identifies he is from the south etc-
The intelligence acts with a warning-
Look people heading to Thailand and maybe not so sure what to do?
I would come over and have a good time - maybe just keep posted to updates and also exercise slight caution -
If you feel the Go Gos are a too obvious target - go grab some girls from other freelance sources-
Remember the Thai Cops and army are ruthless - they will be on the backs of all suspects hard-
But if its going to happen - well nothing will stop it-
If your in a Go Go and the place goes bang : : then what the hell - :: ::

there was also a warning and extra Police at New Years around Bangkok.
There are so many undercurrents in Thailand with the Reds, Yellows, Southern Muslims, Police and Military stuggle that there will always be a threat of something.
