zzzZ, Check Noknas post again,he didnt say that ,he was quoting the cleric. What pisses me off is the obvious one like they are having in Belgium at the moment. The muslim immigrants contribute next to nothing to the well being of the country they were lucky enough to settle in,and please correct me if im wrong.

Maybe it would be nice if everyone felt their own imperative to contribute to society, but such is not the case. I'm sure there are plenty of Belgians who contribute next to nothing or nothing at all. (Just as there are people in the US who do not contribute.) What's your point? That because they are immigrants, they should not be given equal rights? That might work in Europe but it contradicts everything that US stands for. Or that their rights are dependent on contribution? Then all Belgians should be earning their rights the same way. Do you earn your rights?

Looks like I did misinterpret Nokna's post. Nokna: I am sorry for lashing out. I think it is important for people to "have their say" whether we agree or not. However, I also think that the media should perhaps be excersing a bit more self-control of how things are aired, and not to excite bad feelings either way. I believe people should have the right to express their opinions, no matter what they are -- but if they step on the wrong side of the law in expressing or acting out those views they should be dealt with severely.

Do i earn my rights? What do you mean in Thailand? If so, If you mean bringing money into the Thai economy-yes. If you mean as in Thai education- yes.etc,etc. Your fairness is slipping Joe,and once again you fail to answer the question. So what your saying is that a country can sacrifice everything it has ever worked for for the sake of political correctness? In some parts of Australia Santa is being banned this year, for fear of upsetting the minorities. Its total madness. Some religious groups will never fit in,its a fact that stretches thousands of years. Its as worse now than it ever was. Your approach has been tried and has not worked. Something different has to be tried. As for democracy im sure the greeks would have first claim on that one.

YOU were the one who talked about people (immigrants) in Belgium not contributing enough so I asked if the same applies to you. That's all. What question have I again not answered? I don't give a damn about Politcal Correctness. Tell me where I ever mentioned such a ridiculous concept as worth fighting for and protecting. The concept of inalienable rights is hundreds of years old -- it has nothing to do with PC. Santa? WTF are you talking about? What is my approach, that has not worked? Universal application of civil rights? A religion that never fit in? Says who? You? So you decide which religions are OK? The word Democracy and the basic foundation is Greek. The actual mechanisms were not put in to place until centuries later, methinks -- but what does that have to do with anything? If you read my posts and if you are at all capable of objectivity, you will realize that your objections have nothing to do with my position. You have either misread whatt I wrote, deliberately distorted what I wrote, you are blinded by your passion and cannot debate on a rational and reasoned level, or you are simply not capable of understanding the issue. Which is it? No need to tell me but you might want to answer that for yourself. In any case DO NOT suscribe beliefs to me that I have never envinced.

I think political correctness and freedom of speech are very different things. I am not a fan of political correctness at all. And the US has gone way overboard with it. Some things just aren't right, or are "what they are" and people shouldn't be afraid to say so just because it is "politically incorrect". Freedom to say what you want in many ways is the opposite of political correctness, which is why I have such a problem with the whole PC concept in a place like the US where you should have the freedom to speak your mind. However it seems that in this regard that minorities get a special pass to say things that the general population cannot...
