My gut reaction to this is: 1) The guy's a complete bullsh*tter. If it's a real story, he's either trying to delude himself or us. 2) It's impossible to believe that if someone was in their late 30's and had been going to LOS since the 80's (do the math), then he would have been in his 20's when he first went. Does anyone on the forum know any kid in their 20's (us included) who could have resisted this temptation for that many years. I don't believe a word of his ivory tower priggishness. 3) The lady has more class and humanity than does he. 4) Someone (maybe you Nokna, as he lives in you neck of the woods, ha!) please give this chap a swift kick in the nuts for all his insulting language about these ladies we respect, and whom he doesn't. 5) Mea cupla's written with such colonial disdain leave me with no sympathy for this dude. He's a pathetic loser. - Balls

Let's assume its all true. And if it was me. I'm nearly forty years old, I have money in the bank, I have a healthy baby boy (lets get a few tests done but it looks good) and a beautiful young woman who is desperate to please me (and I damn near tremble when I remember HOW she pleased me 9 months ago!). It can all be mine if I just tell myself the test is inconclusive and damn I can lie to myself I do it whenever I look in the mirror. Its all there for me, a future, a family, kids of my own. Instead I go back to my cold fish farang female who is going to punish me for the rest of my life over having got a "thai whore" pregnant (we are even though, I bare backed the bitch only a couple of months after the "thai whore" and no mention of an AIDS test haha). This guy really really threw away a great opportunity and he's joking if he thinks he is still going to take a dip in the gene pool any other way now.

Well I can agree with everything that has been said, however I can also disagree with it. One can question the truth of it, but then the writer is not an unknown quantity, nor is his father. They are both basically publically recognized people. In fact the names and literary standing of both father and son are mentioned for a purpose. In order to validate it's truth to the reader, and to attract the reader. What would the purpose be to fabricate? Basically the writer comes off as a fool, whether for being fooled by a Thai girl or for his loose sense of need to procreate. Fabrication to portray yourself as a fool is not generally very popular. Each detail of the story can be analyzed to death, but the veracity of the facts cannot be known. Confirmation of the truth can only be taken as far as the story is likely to have happened to someone, sometime. That likelyhood makes the story relatively truthful. Even the random combination of fact after fact, all from different sources, work to make the story truthful, in its outcome. It is the outcome that is true and happens frequently. And that I think is the purpose of the writer. Is there one fact of the story, by itself, that cannot be true? There are threads on this forum warning against the lies of BG's and there are threads supporting anunderstanding of their sometimes difficult life. Is this story from the Mail any different? If you read it as a man sucked into false fatherhood, it works. If you read it as a Thai mother seeking support and sympathy for her child it works, the writer sounding self important and uncaring but for himself. It works both ways because it is about the human condition, which is why it is published in the first place. But certainly the son cannot approach his father's ability as a writer, and probably not his sense of humanitarian understanding either. I mean, at least the father had a child.

True or not? The story could easily be written by an author who has never been out of London but came across THIS FORUM, no need of anything else, its ALL written in many of our threads… Minder is right. The way the story ends tells that he is just happy not to be the father. He’s never even thinking of this brilliant alternative to just accept his non biological but somehow biographical fatherhood. Just the mysterious ways of some lazy seminal filaments decide on this mans fatherhood, but fatherhood needs more than just biomechanics. Poor boy he is…

"As a novelist, and as the son of a well known literary figure, I am someone used to the idea of fiction. However, the morality tale I am about to tell you is the truth, and in its own way more remarkable than any invented story" This is exactly like the person who says I am not a rascist but I hate......or the person who says I am telling the truth....... Crock of sh**t IMHO
