Quote: from liftoff on 5:51 pm on Dec. 29, 2003 1) As a norwegian I should stricly spoken apply for a tourist visa in advance. I have been challenged at the airport on it but got in withouthaving one. Hence, I could run arround w/o visa, so no record of my going-abouts if I get stopped. 2) I always leve my passport in the hotel safe, so I have no identity card showing that I am who I claim to be. If I g ot stopped I now persssseice I could be dragged off to the police stattion for vwerification of my story and who I am, which could take a lot of time, or worse deportation due to lack of visa? So, should I start to apply for tourist visa (hassle factor) and always have my passport?
1. You will receive a visa at arrival, Also this is called a tourist visa. 2. Always carry a copy of your passport and a copy of the page with your entry stamp. This will normally suffice when being asked for passport. 3. As long as you stay not longer than 30 days you do not need to apply for a visa in advance of your arrival. As per 1., you will receive your visa at arrival. And, no you do not need to make up a trail of visiting temples.

Sorry, my Dutch friend. A visa on arrival is not called a tourist visa but a transit visa. A tourist visa is the 60 day visa you apply for at any of the embassies.
