This 'self-made billionaire' phrase always makes me want to throw up.
The only people who made this guy is billionaire is the millions of ordinary Thai people who were allowed to be screwed by him.
I always remember the instance where he was wallowing in his position, power and money while the Thai people were struggling to recover from the devastating effects of the Tsunami, and he refused an international aid offer from the Americans.
What was this ? A case of morals about accepting dirty money ? he should have been wel used to that by then. And what of the ordinary Thai people whose livelihoods were destroyed by the Tsunami ? Still struggling. What a guy.
On the other hand, I suppose we canacknowledge the fact that if he had accepted the offer, the money wouldn't have reached them anyway. But that's not the point.

That was the day he lost the sympathy of the motocycle taxis in los, and a week later 100k were asking him to step down, the rest is history and cash in the freezer

I'm always lacking of cash and only a couple of million US necessary to buy an half decent appartment out here are definetely nowhere near - for the next few months and prolly a few more.
I hereby wish to show utmost respect to Khun Thaksin for affording such a nice house on The Peak and skimming so much of this anyway underserving country and its people. The drug war was lot of fun as well, too bad it didn't make it to Utube...
