I probably did not make it clear in my post, but I was not only referring to Thailand.
We all know Bobbitt story, and I remember very well the response at that time was often one of amusement by many women, and even some men. 'Serves him right I am sure' accompanied by a smile or even laughter was a regular occurrence.
It is really strange that people can react that way to what is a completely unjustifiable act, whatever the circumstances behind it.
Here is the same story posted on a US web site called Jezabel. Read some of the posts made by (I think) women, it's unbeleivable! Almost all of them saying how great it is, and how justified.
