temp. is just about right down here in the Eastern Seaboard
instead of running A/C I just get up & close the windows about 2am otherwise I wake up with a runny nose & freezing my bullocks off

Interesting thread. Mrs Shreddie is currently at home in the village in LOS - Chaiyaphum province - and keeps telling me it is cold. She has experienced UK winters before and snow etc, but reckons it is freezing where she is.
She tells me also the TV news says there has been frost in the morning up near Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai.
You can joke about heaters CalEden but Mrs S says she is thinking about getting one.

Long, chilly nights at Sanam Luang

It's hard to sleep out there, but homeless still left in the cold.
It's almost midnight and Wanchai Jantuek and his wife Wan have less than five hours to get some sleep.
The couple are homeless and have no work. They sleep in the Sanam Luang public grounds, although they are finding it hard to get rest these days as it is so cold.
"This winter is colder than in previous years and it's been too cold out here at night," said Mrs Wan, 48.
"It's worst at three or four with the early morning dew and the wind becoming stronger."

Alas, I put no heaters in the house. Thinking about adding a fireplace but it would probably burn the house down with the first lighting. I'm just praying for warm weather.
My wife is sleeping with flannel pajamas, bathrobe, socks and beneath two blankets.
I had a good friend visit for a couple of days from Pattaya. I warned him to bring a sweater and he told me he was from Minnesota and was used to the cold weather.
When he left today, he asked me if it ever gets warm in Isaan. He was going back to Pattaya to warm up.
