That does it. I guess we can now declare it confirmed that Thailand IS NOT the LARGEST SEA country exporter to China -as per the figures above.
I hate being stuborn but the Figures above are for 2002. Thailand export volume has increase 49% YoY in 2003. Singapore, Malaysia and the other which mainly export Electonics have seen their export volume decrease dramatically.
Anyway, since there is a fellowship formed to get me wrong, I will leave the floor to you guys.

Thai exports to China rose dramatically from US$1.85 billion [Bt74 billion] in 1999, to $2.83 billion in 2000, $2.87 billion in 2001, $3.5 billion in 2002 and $4.5 billion in the first 10 months of 2003 alone.
4.5 X 12/10 = 5.4 billion, if the Y-o-Y growth pattern holds.

China has overtaken USA to become Singapore's top export destination for the first time. For the first nine months this year, Singapore's exports to China and Hong Kong, which redirects much of the exports to China, hit $30.6b, compared with the $24.8b to the US in the same period. In a fillip for the all-important electronics sector, which accounts for a third of Singapore's manufacturing output, microchip exports to China almost doubled for the first nine months of this year, compared with the previous year. The US was Singapore's top export market last year, importing $32.9b worth of goods, while China and Hong Kong were close behind at $32.8b.
In fact, the trend within all of the ASEAN nations is increased trade to China.

I think with the recent terror raids in the South of Thailand the Interior Minister has bigger problems to deal with then bar closing times. The PM's concern seems to be with the image of Thailand being branded an unsafe tourist area which is much more detrimental than being know as a P4P haven.
