Quote: from koolbreez on 9:49 am on April 12, 2010 He was following the same course of action his good friend Hugo Chavez used to take total, for life, control of the Democratic Venezuala. Thaksin even has a diplomatic passport from Venezuala. So don't for a minute think that the people just had to wait, and vote him out Democratically. He was creating a gov't that that option would no longer be possible.
While those two (Chavez and Thaksin) end up doing some similar things, they have never had close relations. Furthermore, while many international low-life have Venezuelan passports, it has never been reported that Thaksin has one. You must be confused with a different country: Nicaragua.

Quote: from Kaymanx on 3:23 pm on April 13, 2010 There were also some reports yesterday that as soon as the EC framed the Democrat party for corruption giving rise to fears of a 5-year ban on Abhisit, the yellow shirts were threatening to occupy the streets on Sunday 18th April...
Thats the spirit!!!! Send the military and police home and let the Yellows and Reds have a down and dirty 'smackdown'.... winner gets to appoint the new PM. Dunno about you but my money is on the Reds in a fair fight. The Reds are accustomed to regular hard manual labor whilst the most hard worrk that the prissys in the Yellows have done is to walk down a flight of stairs when the lifts are full ...

Quote: from Mr Alan on 3:56 am on April 14, 2010 To even compare these with the outright voter fraud perpetrated by Democrats in many US elections during the last 50 years is sheer demagoguery.
Wow! You should work for Fox So you must think that Thaksin asset hiding and subsequent manipulation of the law to reap billions in personal profit while in office is just another form of good governance. As I said before, its obvious this is a waste of digital breath as you clearly have little desire to consider alternatives and look objectively at the situation. That would be right in line with the 100s of red shirt supporters I have spoken with in the past

CS, Good idea to have a public no-punch-barred slugfest to decide the next government. I do agree entirely that the Reds would be clear favourites in such a contest. Now I am having a sneaky suspicion. If the yellows also found a rich financier to flood the streets with protesters, chances are they might do it AFTER the Reds go home. That's one way they can ensure a great big turnout since hundreds, if not thousands, of 'professionals' would be back in the market looking for fresh assignments. You've heard of seamless integration, haven't you ?

I don't know how you are making any connection between what I said about the Democratic Party in the US and US voting fraud, and what happens in Thailand. I don't condone anything that Thaksin did that was illegal or unethical. However, I tried to make the following points in this thread: 1. If Thaksin did something illegal, one cannot subsequently ban the entire TKT party and overthrow a duly elected PM who takes office after Thaksin, just because the new PM is of the same party as Thaksin. 2. Once you overthrow a duly elected government via a coup, don't be surprised if later on your choice of a government is overthrown by another coup. What goes around, comes around.

This is not a political post - but basically a reaction to what happened to me tonight. Was due to meet some friends in Hard Rock, but when I got there, discovered Red Shirts were camped outside Siam BTS, similar to their slums outside Central World. Got to Hard Rock, and discovered there were only 4 customers inside !! All down to Red Shirts. Left Hard Rock, and walked towards Novotel, to try and find a taxi to take me somewhere with life. Only taxis around were Red Shirts. The arrogant Red Shirt taxi driver said that he could only take me to certain places, because of the Red Shirts and traffic situation. Being slightly worse the wear from drink, I decided to ask him about the wisdom of the Red Shirts demos and what was his take on it. I also told him that the Red Shirts are really f***ing up tourist income for the country. Sadly for me, he misinterpretaed my words and I assume thought I was calling him/Red Shirts f***ers. He turned on me and said would I like to go and tell the Red Shirts camped along the Soi that they are f***ers. I tried to difuse the situation, but he started to go crazy and then out of nowhere, an associate of his opened the boot to his car and pulled out this f*** off jagged knife. The taxi driver then motioned to me that he was going to cut my throat.... Now I was f***ing scared.... and basically ran for my life towards Novotel. The Security at Novotel pushed me inside... so I found myself inside CM2 !! The f***er with the knife shouted that he would wait for me outside and kill me... great. I don't think I have ever been as scared as this in my life - we can all say one thing or another, but how many of us have actually had a knife pulled on them ?? Reality is a sobering experience. So I am in CM2, and actually find myself looking behind me all the time, half expecting some crazed hit man to knife me in the back. I am thinking can I risk leaving and getting a cab ? maybe Red Shirt is waiting for me outside with his knife. If I leave by the opposite exit - maybe he is expecting me to do that, and is waiting at the other exit. This is mad I thought. Sadly, I am wearing this idiot blue stripped shirt - and feel that I cannot blend in with the crowd and leave unnoticed, if he is waiting for me outside. I think about buying a CM2 T-shirt or even just taking a room at Novotel for the night. Then I find myself thinking that they will be waiting for me in the morning !!! Get a grip I say to myself.... Only concelation is that tonight is change over of band time - you will now enjoy a really hot 5 piece all girl group from Canada - who really rock... BK - you will love them, I know you frequent CM2 from your posts, and these girls are HOT... Eventually, I pluck up courage to exit CM2, and leave at pool table end.... find a taxi - but he wants me to walk to other end...where the Red Shirt guy was... eventually he agrees to take me.... Morale of the story.... don't mess with these guys - out of nowhere you may encounter trouble.
