Urgent: Bomb rocks Hat Yai hotel, over 200 people trapped

Hat Yai, Songkhla - A bomb exploded inside the Lee Garden Hotel in this southern border town Saturday afternoon.
About 200 guests and hotel staffs were trapped on the fourth floor and rescue workers were rushing to rescue them.

Yala rocked by three vehicle bombs, killing 4, injuring 50

Insurgents detonated three vehicle bombs in Yala's downtown at noon Saturday, killing four and injuring more than 50 others.
Thai Rath Online reported that the explosions occurred near Park View Hotel on the Ruammitr Road in Tambon Sateng of Muang district.
The explosions also caused fire to nearby houses.
The first bomb was hidden in a motorcycle parked outside the Myway Karaoke shop.
Insurgents detonated the bomb in front of the motorcycle shop and detonated the second and third bombs when the authorities rushed to check the first explosion.
Thai Rath Online said it was the third bomb that caused a lot of casualties.
The second and third bombs were hidden in cars. The second bomb exploded in front of a motorcycle shop and the last one in front of a restaurant. Each bomb was about 20 metres apart.
Yala Governor said the province was having an annual sports event among government officials so all the activities were cancelled in the afternoon.
Meanwhile in Hat Yai, Songkhla, a bomb exploded inside the Lee Garden Hotel in this southern border town Saturday afternoon.

... when I view how "the brother knew how to handle it," I think of Aceh and Timor Leste... didn't turn out so good for the Indonesians either...I expect the Thais are equally unprepared to solve this on their own, and hope the UN will eventually compel them to something more enlightened than jungle thuggery.

Not hardly, the brother Thaksin is a racist bigot, and had no idea how to deal with it, just as his sister appointed problem solver there has no idea.
They refuse to prosecute those responsible for the ongoing killings by the government, so this type of response will continue.
Thaksin had no clue how to deal with it, and his sister has escelated the problem again with her indifference.
This is the best example of Thai racism, and bigotry in the country. It is just a shame they do not know how to stage a revolt so it does the most good, and in the same respect causes the most damage to their target.
When they start targeting the real cause for their problems, then Bangkok, and any government office will not be safe.

Of three key controversial incidents, the first was the Army's storming of the Krue Se Mosque, where protesters had holed up and were killed.[102]
The second, in October 2004, was the killing of 84 Muslim demonstrators at Tak Bai, when the Army broke up a peaceful protest.[103] Hundreds of detainees were forced at gunpoint to lie shackled and prone in Army trucks, stacked like cordwood. The trucks were delayed from moving to the detainment area for hours. The 84 victims were reported to have been asphyxiated, crushed or died of overheating. The precise nature and cause of death have been subject to controversy and doubt because of lack of transparency and absence of depth in investigations made. There are other reports of many more deaths but these have not been substantiated.

Airports security stepped up

Security at all airports under the Airports of Thailand has been stepped up following the car bombings in Yala and Hat Yai city in Songkhla on Saturday, AoT president Anirut Thanomkulbutr said on Sunday.
Mr Anirut said Level 3 security is in force at Hat Yai airport and whether it will be lifted to Level 4, the highest, will depend on various circumstances.
No airlines had cancelled flights to Hat Yai after yesterday's blast, he said.
