Expatchuck, Even though I am rattling your cage I do want you to know that I appreciate most of your posts and I do appreciate your general level of knowledge that you bring to the board. I must be in a fighting mood today or something. BB

Mr. BB: It is late, I need a shower and my teeth have been in the glass for an hour already. ンThis will be my last post tonight and I will issue my retort to your retort as time permits tomorrow. You still have not answered why you claim I have lied when I posted the 160-180 F range, yet your own post states temperatures here are often in excess of 150F. If I am lying then your own reference is lying also since we are saying the same thing. You still have not proven me wrong but have in fact supported my case with your own link. I try to post absolute nonsense to escape the craziness where I live or post something that I believe accurate in order to help somebody out. ンI don't lie about anything but my sexual prowess and the length of my dick. I'll visit with you tomorrow.

expatchuck, If a sweet young girl stuck her tongue out at you, you would get hot a long time before her tongue hit the top of the ice cream. Trust me it would melt and run down your leg, just looking at her. Hope you are safe, re last nights news!

expatchuck, Mixing a few of your words, I came up with, "Sir Ingnoranus", - I like it, its so polite. TWD - Grab a soft cone ice cream and go for a drive, preferrably past NEP with you c....... hanging out the car window. May not be as hot outside on the road, but for sure ンthere will be some young girl with her tongue hanging out. BB " The only way that the air temperature above an object can be directly influenced is if the humidity level is sufficient" - RUBBISH!!!!!!!

it's obvious someone didn't take fluids and dynamics in college...nor did he study properties of fluids with respect to temperature, tisk...tisk (I happen to teach this stuff mind you). BB

BB, Maybe you should find another profession, that is if you could call "Teaching" one. And yes I did and try considering the "Surface composition" But without wanting to get into a futile debate over how hot it may be in sitting 3 feet above the road surface in a car, with "Sir Ingnoranus", I ンsugget you simply refer this extract, EXTRACT: 134ェ in the Death Valley- desert temperatures are notorious, but these numbers don't tell the whole tale. Official thermometers hang five feet above ground, where it is about .....F cooler than it is on the ground. When the weatherman says 110ェ, it is probably 160ェ at foot level. There are records of ground surface temperatures as high as 190ェ! With all due respect, weathermen and recorded temperatures are AIR TEMPERATURES, taken in a set condition, sometimes in a idealic location at a nominal height above the ground surface and do represent the maximum at ground or near ground level. on a highway surface. Ever seen a weather station thermometer mounted in the middle of a highway? Even with your limited intellect, you would understand that from 110F (at 5 ft above) to 160F (at foot level or even on the ground surface), their must be a tempertaure transition zone. EC : "Air temperature on the highway during the summer will be in the 160-180 degree farenheit range. Not out of the realms of probability, BB I think you owe EC an apology!

Craig Oz: ンIf the ice cream melts, don't you just have her go after it wherever it might end up? We are all OK today, thanks. Now to the subject at hand. Dear Mr. BB: I am still waiting for your response about your own link and the remark in it about air temperaturres exceeding 150 F on the Arabian Peninsula. ンAre they wrong or right? Now for your information, in August 1995, the Arizona Department of Transportation ran a highway temperature survey during a period that the high air temperature exceeded 43C (110F) for 17 consecutive days. During this survey period pavement surface temperatures hit nearly 83C (180F). ンThere is no way you can convince me (and apparantly lots of folks) that the air temperature four or five feet above the pavement is no hotter than 132F, which is what you claimed in your original post. ンThat would be a 48 degree drop in a vertical five foot climb. ンDon't think that is really possible or probable. My link, and I DID read it all is: ン ン ン http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/winter/roadsvr/CS125.htm You, sir, are wrong and I did not lie! My teeth are out of the glass now so we can continue until you see the error of your ways!!!

Show me where I posted anything condeming the proposition that asphalt temperatures can exceed 160F please. ンNow that this is cleared up, you suggested in your post that the "air temperature" was between 160F-180F. ンJust because you "meant" the asphalt temperature do not back peddle and change air to asphalt simpily because you do not have the tools to back up your claim. This study says that the highway commission has developed roads to withstand extreme temperatures in Arizona. ンGood for them. ンWhen does this article speak to air temperature. ンYou can change your claim that the asphalt temperature is that which is 160-180F but you can not prove, at least with this article, that the air temperature is such. ン In the Saudi Arabian desert it just could not happen, due to the laws of heat conduction (unless under extremely uncharacteristic weather conditions). You say that: "There is no way you can convince me (and apparantly lots of folks) that the air temperature four or five feet above the pavement is no hotter than 132F, which is what you claimed in your original post..." Then this conversation is futile and arguing this topics is now a mute point. ンJust because you do not have a firm grasp on science please do not get angry with me. ンSince you have that teenager mentality that you know everything anyway I guess I will end my discussion of this topic now. Boys boys boys, the resident psychonaut has to come once again to clear things for you. Ok, here it is: "The highest ground temperature recorded was 201ェ at Furnace Creek on July 15, 1972. The maximum air temperature for that day was 128ェ. Ground temperature on the valley floor is about 40% higher than the surrounding air temperature. " I am not sure if there is a definite winner. You guys seem now to be playing with words. But somehow I am getting the impression that BB is ahead by at least a neck, though I am not so sure. BTW, here is the source: http://wrgis.wr.usgs.gov/docs/parks/deva/weather.html
