I am not really sure where we are in disagreement...I think we are both saying it sucks to get stabbed; but if you are - then you are more likely to be mortally wounded if a trained attacker. There are many many accounts (If you are really interested I will give you some links) of people getting stabbed many times and not being critically injured. I once saw this guy in an emergency room on the south side of chicago that had been stabbed a bunch of times and was covered in blood everywhere getting a coke from the pop machine.

No , we do not disagree . I just made a remark that a person can killed accidentally (when meant to wound) and I made a reading mistake in " generally bad luck OR getting done by a pro".
I read it :"generally bad luck OF getting done by a pro ".

Another violent taxi attack in Bangkok, again on an unaccompanied female tourist passenger, this time Chinese. See story here -

The first attacker was never caught, which surprises me if he was driving a genuine cab as the list of suspects would not be great. This is poison for tourism and they do need to concentrate on solving these serious crimes rather than deploying scarce resources constantly raiding nightlife venues.
Falang women, take a note of the taxi licence plate when you get in.

Having read that it's a pretty nasty one, but hell, this stuff can happen all over the world and in some more 'civilised' countries would hardly be news.
At least this one looks genuine unlike the HK journalist who was 'gang raped by police'. She gave a huge amount of credibility to foreign victims in Thailand.

I had a bad week, robbingwise (did I just create a new word??).
taxi driving seems to be less and less profitable.
I got robbed at knivepoint thursday morning 4 am. not proud of it. did all the wrong things myself. drunk, flashing a wad of cash (well it was my birthday for christs sake), was arguing about the price as he failed to put the meter on.
well, I am getting a full time driver starting from january.
the chairman got the message.
until then, it's just old taxidrivers for me.
or sleepovers in town.
