Actually the point by TU that to work in a gogo is just plain stupid is very valid.
Essentially a gogo bar acts as an intermediary between the girl and her client (and takes a cut of her remuneration). This is no longer necessary given freelancer bars and the mobile phone.
So what possible reason would a girl have to work in a gogo bar apart from being stupid? Well in a gogo bar she can get through 2 or 3 clients a night - this might make up for the intermediary costs of the gogo itself (but doesnt bode well for a good shag) and explains the constant complaints that girls in gogos are only prepared to go short time nowadays.
My guess is that if a girl is seriously interested in maximising her returns from just shagging strangers then a massage parlour is the best route.
Of course many of the smarter girls are looking to profit from a combination of whoring, sponsorship and possibly, in extreme cases, marriage. It is clearly easier, more fun, more interesting and more remunerative to do that outside the gogo scene.

Right so given that if I wwas to be asked what a game plan I would advise a person who was coking here on vacation, I would advise the following.
1. Go off and get a ST with either a BG or MP
2. Have a nice dinner, alone until you can get someone worth taking to dinner (i.e. Not a BG or MP as they are working and seldom lile anything, but Thai food)
3. Go to one of the clubs and prospect for freelancers for LT overnight.
4. Add alcohol to steps 1> 3 as required.

The only reason I can think of for working there is in starting out. Getting some capital together for that mobile phone, internet access, make-up, clothes, etc and to build a client base for that freelancer future. For this reason alone the a-go-go bars are here to stay.
"Stupid" is a harsh assessment but I understand the sentiment. Staying there I agree is for the less ambitious ones.

Yeah, Abrak you do come across that way in some of your posts - not in this discussion but in others. Glad to see you still do love the place.
My personal fear is I will be seen as turning into a Stickman clone - sneering at the scene I loved prior to marrying a good Thai girl.
That said I think most a-go-go in the last 5 years, thanks to 1am closing, police raids and reduced "showing" have turned into little more than a quasi massage parlour - pick your girl pay your money and go short time. And due to the reasons listed here by all the brothers I don't forsee a turn around.
Somebody kill me.....Enjoy.

He might be having less fun in LOS because the fun of LOS is no longer available to him. The reason is the lifestyle changes HE has chosen and the mindset changes HE has allowed to happen to himself. When you look at all the people from Isaan as whores and all the men in Thailand as wife-beaters and thieves, how the hell do you expect to have a good time here? (I am exaggerating to make a point.)
Stickman thinks too much and he writes to much.  He used to be a great read, now most of what he writes is so jaded, that it is useless as "advice". However, I do like the parts of his weekly column that describes new places, prices, etc.
