It's funny you bringing up all this propoganda to justify cancelling your trip.........lolol.
You don't bring up the facts about paying those red shirts bt500, and meals to protest, or the bt1000 payments to taxi drivers to block streets. Or the civilians shot by red shirts because they are tired of them.
I personally think you were a fool for cancelling your trip. This is Thai vs Thai, tourists are safe.........lol.

"Red-shirts core leader Veera Musikhapong announced an end to the current anti-government protest in Bangkok on Tuesday morning as hundreds of soldiers surrounded the Government House camp where the remaining demonstrators had gathered."

Several airconditioned buses were seen arriving near the protest site about midnight. Speakers using loud hailers offered protesters a free ride home. The offer was made in Lao dialect, the main language of the rural Northeast.
Mr Panitan said some protesters accepted the offer of government assistance."

Funny how I went out all weekend and the last two days, even played water today, and the only red shirt I saw was a songkran flower shirt. There were some battles on sukhumvit between some farang's and thais with the all mighty water guns, and buckets of cold water.

well as long as the airport is open I for one have no problems going to thailand, I just left a few days ago and I am due back in a few days
ive been going to los for 6-7 years about 10-12 times a year, never had any problems and im sure I never will
some people attract problems and trouble
others can walk down a street and not be pestered
i think its called mutual respect and understanding of a culture
or common sense
then again we have people on here who are so paranoid they chain everything in their room to a radiator, only carry 500 baht cash, and have their atm card taped to the sole of their foot and a spare one in a safety deposit box at their embassy, just in case they get robbed
probably the same guys who pick up every satong change for a 80baht beer from a 100 baht note

You can bet there is going to be Act 2. Mr Shinywart has been promising on world TV that he intends to return to LOS "when the time is ripe." I should have thought it was ripe enough when the reds were rampaging and holding the entire megapolis to ransom. In most other Asian countries a red corner notice would have been issued for any one instigating war against the nation from outside. Besides, the country hosting him would have been told in no uncertain terms that it was indulging in an unfriendly act by permitting him to wage war against his own nation from another soil. But TiT.
This is also the toxin's method. Aren't you inspired at his smartness in spiriting away his countless billions and paving the way for all his family and close friends to flee like mice ? You are right. I am certainly loooking forward to Act 2. Just that -- if the government sustains its purposeful conduct of the last 2 days --- the boot would be on the other foot.
