"Oh and the airport code will be NBK not BKK between it's opening and Sept 28th. " Mis-read that, and for a moment had visions of Bangkok Air flying direct to Mah Boon Khong! 8^)

Will they finnaly decide not to open this airport before its really finished now that there is no more arrogant prime minister to push this idea? Or is it really "to late to turn back"? Madfrog

Well, you know, the secret tunnels underneath, and the cladestine explosive charges, in case the government needs to blow it up pretending planes flew into it... :-P Seriously, against all odds, it appears that by and large the airport may just be ready to go - of course, there are significant number of leaks in the glass domes (beig fixed now) and I'm sure once it REALLY starts going and more traffic comes in, more problems will surface -- but in all honesty, none of this would be expected or surprising for a project of this scale. The transportation issue was the one huge problem, and that one appears to have been 'fixed' by overriding the special interests and allowing 10,000 taxis to flood the airport (pretty much killing the transportation center 3km away -- what a stupid idea that was. It will probably now be converted and leased to rental car agencies), and once (if) the Skytrain connection goes online, it should actually be close to its promise. We hope. I may be flying in back pretty soon (October) so chances are I'll experience it first-hand.

I'm required to use airports, in ordr to pass required avian flu checks, otherwise I risk getting shot down by cruise missiles...
