Thais are pumped up with national pride/propaganda. Then again, so are many, many countries that I've worked in. Try Singapore, Dubai, Oman, China, HKG...then Africa!!! However the people do not always use their nationality to denegrate others. Hell, us Americans are pretty pumped up on the pride/propoganda stuff too.
You find nationalism of course all over the world, but it does differ slightly from place to place in how it sows it's roots into national consiousness and the behaviour it elicits. Studying it can also help to give a greater understanding of why certain people display 'national caracteristics' and behaviours, though of course books can only teach you so much. The effective nationalism felt by some of the countries metioned above such as china, HG (china) and singapore share the same roots as that in thialand and are similar.
