In UK they ran the story last night showing Samak in his apron talking to the camera and then the presenters started joking about Green Curry !
A PM being "suspended" as it were, would normally be a serious Political story, but in this case it was a running joke. Pretty embarrassing really. I always try and defend Thailand when in the UK - but my work colleagues think it is a pisspot country, and with stories like this who can blame them. If taking over Government Buildings and closing Airports can't get rid of him, but cooking on TV can - the world has gone mad. Also, what about his f***ing advisors ? Surely they would know the score ?

I think 'selective enforcement' of the law is fun to watch.
But the big difference now is the way to judicial branch is doing the work to move people out of office (and out of th ecountry) where before it was done through other means.... now a much 'cleaner' method to get rid of people you don't like.... to rely on the rule of law seems to have a better ring to it.........

What about the PPP disbanding? Isn't that still pending from the Election Commission? They are trying to determine if the PPP is not a legitimate party, and if so, will be disbanded, and their appointed officials will be null and void too -- I thought that's how they were going to do it, but the cooking show angle is certainly more fun.
Good point about his advisors, who should have told him to dump the cooking show when he was elected -- then again, they may have, and seeing how reasonable he often is, he probably told them to piss off.
Has he re appeared from his disappearance yet, or does Thaksin have a roommate by now

I just think it funny that the agreived party are called the 'Peoples Alliance for Democracy' but think it is ok to occupy buildings and close airports to get the duly elected majority Government out.
I certainly know that outside Bangkok most thais are pro Thaksin. We are educated enough to know Thaksin had his own agendas but he is deemed by the average Thai up country as having helped them..

I was talking to a taxi driver in BKK last week who, after he determined it was safe to discuss the topic, lambasted the PAD for being elitist and destroying the tourist economy in Thailand.
His cut on the issue was that they could afford to miss a day or two of work (if they even had to work), he could not...

Maybe I missing it, but here in L.A. not one sentence in the newspapers or one second on T.V. about any trouble in LOS
Maybe travel agents here for the fat farang dykes & families are steering them elsewhere for vacation (pray to buddha) but I'm sure the single guy addicted to Thai girls aren't changing their travel plans, myself, as a sex tourist welcome the 40% decline, my hotel is booked and I don't drink, so as the illegal mexicans here would say, viva la revolution

probably if there wasn't much else in the news it would be newsworthy, but Thialand is really not much of a news item considering what else is making the front pages i.e. worldwide credit crises, presindantial elections, economy, hurricanes, etc.
