And this from the link quoted above :

"Worst-hit residents have complained that their homes are being sacrificed to save downtown Bangkok's shopping malls, luxury hotels and the houses of the wealthy elite, triggering protests and the destruction of some flood barriers."

You better hope this protectionism does not see a violent end. Stay on guard -- better still stay away.

dirty guru
I want to lay by my heavily discounted luxury hotels pool "sunning myself" discussing the next porn movie session with the happy discounted Go Go girl laying next to me-

Restoring my circadian rhythms - and thinking What a wonderful world -

"love me long time suckie f***ie "? I might casually ask my little naughty porn queen?

""Yes darling "" as she feeds me another grape-

f***ing flood problem I think -

Searching the pool for others who are all missing-

I slip a finger in her pussy and taste the moistness-

Well - iam sure the above wont be far of the truth in a day or two-

The media have been all hype-

Just like the red shirt shit-

I ended up drinking beer with a few of them lovely wonderful people (who now control Thailand -

Water -

Nit noi down town we are told-

Who needs a f***ing Ark...?

Army chief vows to protect inner Bangkok
Source: BangkokPost
Published: 4/11/2011 at 07:03 PM

In a TV news report, Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha stated his support to protect all the sluice gates to complement the police so as to slow the waterflow into inner Bangkok.

He said if the government cannot control the sluice gates, the floodwater will inundate Khlong Saen Saep and inner Bangkok.

It was bad already to be invaded from the northern front from Rangsit and Khlong Prempachakorn.

If a decision is not taken to protect all the sluice gates, reporters may have to come by boats to interview him next time, he quipped.

He admitted that he was frustated to see people suffering and his soldiers having to work extremely hard to help the people and protect Bangkok.

Nice pictures BK thanks.... Hummm this is very strange... looks like the inner BKK "elite" keeps their life as usual, but the peasnts around are flooded. I hope indeed the inner BKK will be spared, because of the elite which owns the property there and has the ties to the army etc... the big shots cannot allow losing money to the floods and getting their property (hotels, malls, expensive brand stores, and content) destroyed. So they are sacrifiying the peasants around the center. Even the Royal Palace will be in danger if more water gets in. But I do not know how they plan to manage all of this water and gates to dry the area. They should get a computer program to do it authomatically instead of having people deciding what gates to open or close...

Whether or not it was right or the best thing for the government to protect inner Bangkok, I won't be the judge of that. Right now, the people whom I interact with from day to day, have homes in the flood affected areas. I overhear them telling their friends or colleagues of their problems, and yet they are here in Inner Bangkok to work. And work they would not get if there were no tourists. So have a heart and come on here. I have shown you photos that it's dry, and there is enough water to go around. Thailand needs you more than ever, spend your money here and enjoy the process. The money earned will go around to help others, and that starts with everyone of us being here, spending it here.

Thanks BK

OK I will travel based on your comment. It makes sense and yes I want to support by doing so. Was thinking to cancel though my flight is after mid Nov, but I am with you in what you say and indeed the people need income and they suffer enough with the floods of their homes. If they make an effort to go to work and wait for tourists to earn a living, we should too go there and enjoy giving such to them, especially that we will stay dry most likely in all the places we go to anyway. Thanks BK again.. that was a very good from the heart post...!

Here are some news - so TAT also wants to reasoure tourists they will be taken care of, not sure this specific will work for me, but the intention is there and supports your comment that indeed they need us now the most... :

Tourists assured of travelling convenience
The Nation November 4, 2011 8:06 am

The Tourism and Sports Ministry has come up with measures to facilitate foreign tourists' travelling to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
First, TAT and Thai Hotels Association should jointly check the number of tourists departing for the airport and provide transportation to Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station. State Railway of Thailand should be alerted, if train services are insufficiently provided.

Second, from the station, travellers should be escorted by police officers to the airport. Suvarnabhumi police should be alerted for the fast-track service.

Third, tourist police must work with Airports of Thailand in allocating special rest area for the travellers and facilitating late check-ins, flight changes, or others. The Immigration Office should also be contacted for fast-track service.

Tourism and Sports Permanent Secretary Suwat Sidthilaw, chairing a meeting on Wednesday when the measures were agreed upon, said that the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s data showed that as of Oct 27, tourist attractions in 20 provinces have been affected by the floods.

Though October marks the beginning of Thailand’s tourism high season, tourist arrivals to Thailand have slowed down sharply in October with the daily peak of 40,528 on Oct 1. The number slumped to 22,197 on Oct 31

Many thanks BK for tip... !

OK I am on a mission.. going to visit RTB too and spend a few bhat in his establishment (not because I have to drink there but because I want to support...!). While I cannot stay at the TownLodge (will be staying at my usual Landmark place... ), I sure will try to go to places and spend the money which I do anyway, with the idea of what you have written...

Thanks again and I call to all others to do their best and join - all hands (and bodies...) on deck !
