If that is the case BK, you better plan for a long-haul. According to some geologists/hydrologists BKK is sitting on a giant 'sponge' (sorta like Boston or Oakland) and when it is flooded a huge amount of the water is not visible but is captured in the soil. Of course as the 'above ground' water flows off or evaporates the 'sponge' releases more water to replace it. This means that there could be as much as 2x more water in BKK proper than you are seeing...

Waiting for the water to evaporate... I sure hope you are jokink BK... Well I will travel as planned after mid of Nov, and will stay 3 weeks or so in BKK... I do not think the airport will close in any case, and it will allow us to leave Thailand if needed, but I do not think it is needed as long as downtown action BKK is still dry... Needless say the Thais will be happy to see us, and we can help by going there and enjoying and spending money that we would have done anyway.. it will not afect us I believe... Having said that, my heart is with the Thais living in flooded homes who need to walk and travel on flooded roads. But if we also prevent our support and they wont get the tourists to allow them to earn their living, that will indeed be devestating. Go there! Ap.-

Public urged not to consume ice iced drinks from unknown sources November 7, 2011 10:30 am The Public Health Ministry's Department of Medical Sciences Monday warned of possible leptospirosis in flooded areas and against consuming ice and iced drinks from unknown production sources. In a recent survey, 21 food samples, collected in four flooded provinces including Bangkok, yielded food poisoning manifestations, while 17 out of 57 samples of drinking water possessed germs which caused diarrhoea. This is the time, Bangkok Municipality should plan how to take care of water flow in the city, if suddenly flooded and also put an effective underground sewage system. The Rivers must be dredged, and make flow quicker, and put proper dykes on sides so that water doesn't spread out in the city. Best example to be thought about is, The Netherlands. Total country is under sea level, and well protected by Dams. We have not heard about flood in Holland when it happened last time. If Thailand's flood caused is only from Rivers, this must be controlled. And it is possible as well.
