I think kenneth is 100% correct.
I have lived here in thailand for several years and other parts of Aisa.
Asians in general and particularly the Thai's have an inferior way of doing things to the west. Inferior equals incompetance.
Thailand has never been ruled by another country, this they are proud of. But it has with absolutely no doubt held the development of the country back.
Just imagine how this country would now be if the brits had ruled it and developed it for a hundred years or so. A few more brain cells would have been infused into society for starters and there would be a lot more cute half thai falang chicks about.
Just look at the incompetant way the country is managed by Toxic. Declarations of this and that, it was astounding that he did not declare Thaialnd would be Tsunami free by 2010.
At least we are not in india.

For my part, my comments are not racist as they are based on fact.
Fact, the subway accident was caused by incompetence.
Thais in general try to find the easy way out of everything. Eg. degrees from many Thai universites are considered worthless as too many of them are paid for rather than earned. Just as Thaksin's relatives. Why do Thais study abroad??? Because if they want the high salary jobs, they have to prove that their tertiary degrees are based on their capacity to learn rather than the capacity of their parents bank account.
Arramsey you ain't even trying to argue my point, you are simply reverting to abuse.
Got any facts to support your argument or are you just going to call me scum again??

If you had bothered to read without your RACIST tinted glasses you will see that I made my point WITH FACTS right at the beginning of this Thread ( on page 2 ).
My point was that even if the accident was due to human failure you should not make generalised statements like :-
- Most Thais cannot even ride a Bicycle properly.
- Thais do EVERYTHING in a half-arsed manner.
- Most Thais do not want to ride on the Sub-Way.
- etc.
When I pointed out to you that the Sky-Train ( run by Thais ) transfering thousands of passengers per day has been running for nearly 5 years now without any major problem - you gave the credit for that to the German Engineers ( who incidentally are not running that System ).
Sure the culture and resultant way of doing things in this country are not the most desirable to Western eyes - BUT that does not merit the generalisations you made ( given above ).
In fact you will find it extremely difficult to cite more than one or two cases where you can say that things were done in a half-arsed manner.
