You obviously haven't been to Saudi so i would put that high on my list on places not to go to.
Pakistan rates pretty high as well.
Getting back to the topic at hand i just wanted to add some balance to the rosy view that was being put forward of Thailand.
A number of people have raised the issue of institutionlised corruption and its prevelance in all countries.This may be true but it has to be said that in a country like Thailand it is much more deeply rooted than the country which i was brought up in Australia and likewise many othere western democracies.
Tea money is an accepted way of doing business in LOS.
Corruption permeates all levels of Thai society and it is a factor in the underperformance of its economy.
Thailand lacks many basic services that western countries take for granted
Until very recently Thailand was basically controlled by the military and they still have a very strong power base.
I could go on ......
I too love Thailand for many things but it has many faults as well.

To change Thailand will take a generation or three !
It will not be done overnight and has to start from an early age.
The 'power people' at the moment don't seem to want this and seem happy that the population is generally dumbed down.
I actually see a socio/political crisis within five years because of change at the top.
I need not go into details as I don't want to be banned.

Where to avoid??? ÝBesides the Gaza Strip, ÝSaudi Arabia has got to be number one!!! ÝUnless of course you're into total boredom, and looking at women's ankles!!! ÝAnd of course if you want to be a test case for skin cancer from the extreme heat and suck refinery fumes all day!!! ÝNot to mention working a 6 day week which you might as well as there's nothing else to do!

They put an extra prison bus to the courthouse yesterday just to arraign the ladies they caught recently in a sweep of the more notorious locations. Johns who shop outside the 'approved' areas are being targeted also.
2. ÝNo late Bar opening approved yet. ÝThe Burearucracy has yet to put a process in place to approve opening time extensions and will probably not do so before next year.
3. ÝThere is a movement to roll back the proposed changes as bad for Singapore's image.
So if you are just coming to Singapore for pussy, don't!
You will just screw it up for the rest of us!

Will the USA was indian land a few hundred yrs ago but it isn't now. Same thing with palistain They lost there little war so there is no more land for them. I sure if you go back long enough thailand was owned by someone else too
