Yes, that is what happened.... but I am wondering now (I do not remember well as I went there many years ago), isn't there a pool where one swims with rays (do those there have stingers?) at Discovery Cove (owned by Sea World) in Orlando? I remember being surrounded by those things. I guess the woman who wrote this was no friend of Irwin: http://www.guardian.co.uk/australia/story/0,,1865124,00.html

Smegs, The author of that piece, Germaine (burn the bra f***en slut of a thing) Greer, is about as popular as wart's on the face. I really hope she get's mobbed when next in public and they throw her to the croc's. BTW, she is not popular in Australia.

Looking at the Discovery Cove website, the rays that you can swim with are relatively small (at least compared to the ones I have seen while scuba diving in the Florida Keys). The website shows small children in the pool with the rays. According to the quote below I found, the rays at Dsicovery Cove have no stingers. Not sure if they removed them, or if it is a different species that has no stingers (probably the former). "the park [Discovery Cove] offers a sand beach, a pool where you can swim with "stinger-free" stingrays"

That's why she lives and works in the UK - she single-handedly balances out every criminal half-wit ever transported to Australia. (BTW Australia: Because The Greer Effect absolves us for all previous exports, you owe us big-time for taking Rolf Harris off your hands)

Stingray Bay (aptly enough), in the Caymens is the place to swim (well wade) with wild stingrays. Apparently there's some kind of, I think fish, oil you can dab on your mate's wetsuit before he puts it on that drives the stingrays mad with desire and will get them mobbed. BTW Stingray Bay (australia) was Cook's original choice for the name of Botany Bay before he changed his mind to honour his ship's botanist.

you took the words out my mouth, so so true. I would also add to repatriation list Mr John Barry Humphries in his toe curling interpretation of Dame Edna Everage. Ship that freak back to his native Melbourne. Sarge
