Central World building may collapse after arson attack

Major arson attacks at 12 locations around Bangkok
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration disclosed 12 major arson attacks caused by rioting protesters around the capital as of 5.00 pm on Wednesday.
1. The areas on Rama I Road around Paragon shopping mall and Siam Square. Firefighters could not gain access because of gun attacks from rioters. Siam Theatre was completely burned down.
2. Parts of Centara Grand Hotel at Rajprasong were set on fire. Firefighting was successful.
3. Fire at the Stock Exchange building on Wireless Road caused hugh damage. And the blaze rages on as rioters refused to allow access for firefighters.
4. Mahatun Building at Phloenchit was set on fire causing a total damage.
5. The blazes at the Office of Narcotics Control Board and the nearby convenient store 7Eleven in Din Daeng were put out.
6. Bangkok Bank and Krung Thai Bank branches in Asoke were completely burned down.
7. Bangkok Bank and Government Saving Bank branches in Din Daeng were completely burned down.
8. The Maleenont Building, housing Channel 3, has been under arson attack and firefighters could not gain access.
9. Bangkok Bank branch and Tesco Lotus superstore on Rama IV Road were set on fire and firefighters could not gain aceess.
10. The fire at the office of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority in Klong Toei was successfully put out.
11. Firefighters managed to put out the fire at Central World shopping mall.
12. Bangkok Bank branch at Victory Monument was set on fire.

Court approves arrest warrant against Thaksin, 9 others on terrorism charge

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court Wednesday approved the request of the Department of Special Investigation to issue arrest warrant against former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and nine other people on charge of terrorism.
DSI director-general Tharit Pengdit said the nine other people wanted on the arrest warrant are Adisorn Piengket, Wiphuthalaeng Phattanaphumthai, Phayup Punket, Jeng Dokjik, Wichian Khaokham, Aree Krainara, Suksek Poltua, Surachai Thewarat and Rachata Wongyod.

Burning CentralWorld 'could collapse'

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has warned that the CentralWorld building, which was set on fire on Wednesday afternoon, could collapse, according to television reports.
The eight-storey shopping complex is located at the Ratchaprasong intersection.
The blasz is reported to have spread throughout the building to the top floor.
People were being warned to stay away from the building.

Erawan: 43 dead, 365 injuries

Bangkok Emergency Medical Centre (Erawan) reported at 6pm that the clashes at Rajaprasong now claimed 365 injuries with 43 dead since May 14. Patients are treated in 39 hospitals, 111 in general wards with 5 in ICUs.
For today's clashes, there were 58 injuries with 6 dead including an Italian reporter.

Bangkok Post being evacuated

All staff were ordered to leave the Bangkok Post building in Klong Toey shortly before 3pm as red-shirts gathered nearby at five-way and advanced down Na Ranong road towards the Post building about 200 metres away.
The Post building also houses the sister Thai-language Post Today newspaper.
About 60 reporters of Bangkok Post and Post Today are being evacuated from the office building on Wednesday afternoon.
The evacuation came after protesters have reportedly set fire on buildings around the Rama IV intersection.
Reporters were heading to Klong Toey Nai temple.
