Apropos your statement that the U.S. Government does not give Boeing any tax breaks, I give below extracts from an article in a recent issue of The New-York Times discussing the WTO wrangle between the U.S. and the E.U. :-
------------------------------ the two trading giants ( i.e. the U.S. and the E.U. ) backed away from suing each other over the billions of dollars in SUBSIDIES that BOTH give to their BIGGEST CIVILIAN AIRCRAFT MAKERS.

and the problem is ? taxes are money extracted from the private sectors to the government. so to call tax break " give away" is like saying the robber "gives " back the loots to the rightful owner. It's not their ( government/robber ) money to begin with !! They are just robbing you less, not giving anything back......wake up, you happy tax payers of the world !

It may well appear that way in some war films but it was most certainly not the case.
If the US hadn't joined the war the French would not be speaking German, they might possibly be speaking RUSSIAN but not German. Once Hitlers initial Blitzreig against the Russkies failed he was doomed.

I read recently (I forget where, so don't ask) that the average IQ of a Masters graduate is 126 and that of a PhD graduate is 134.
This suggests to me that you can achieve academically without being excessively intelligent. Perhaps drive & motivation (as in life) are the most important factors.
Is a degree from Yale/Harvard harder to get than a BA from other universities, or are the entry requirements just tougher? I know that Oxford/Cambridge relax their entrance requirements for certain individuals. Perhaps some US universities do the same.
I have no axe to grind with GWB...perhaps we expect the Presidents of the US to be superhumans!
I don't necessarily agree with his policies but I do not consider him stupid..dangerous maybe, but not stupid!

People talk of the USA "joining" the war as if the USA one day woke up bored and decided to go fight the Nazis and save the world. The USA "joined" as a reaction to it being attacked.
It seems people forget that the USA initially was at war with Japan only -and this was after being attacked by the Japanese. Then Germany joined Japan and formally declared war on the USA. Hitler hoped that Japan would return the favor and declare war on Russia helping keep it a bit busy on the other side; Japan didn't return the favor.

I think what they are trying to tell us is, as follows…a brief summary of this thread so far, as I have understood it.
1.France started WW2
2.The USA Won WW2
3.Norway is covered in oil
4.Europe is unfair in trade
5.Lots of BTF members have been visiting to the Boeing web site for pointless links
6.Shrimps have cold feet…that’s why Norwegians kill seals…to make the shrimps little fury socks for there cold feet
7.And the USA demands payment by gold…..but there again, so do a lot of Thai girls.
