I'm not disagreeing that this is an orchestrated effort to lead the Thaksinites to their own hanging, but at the same time, I do enjoy how Somchai essentially beat PAD at this round, by landing where he was not expected.
It's obvious that, at one point, they will need to resign, but the problem is that if any new elections happen, the same thing will happen again.
I think in the end there's really only one way to solve the problem, and that is to cut off the serpent's head.

Thai protests shut second airport
Anti-government protesters in Thailand have forced the closure of the second airport in Bangkok, Don Mueang.
The airport was closed after opposition supporters blocked the terminal, in an apparent attempt to stop officials flying to meet PM Somchai Wongsawat.
Mr Somchai is in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, because he was unable to land in Bangkok after a trip to Peru.
Protesters have been occupying the international airport amid an escalating political crisis.
On Wednesday Mr Somchai rejected a call by army leader Gen Anupong Paochinda for new elections to end the political deadlock.

Fresh elections at the end of 2007 failed to resolve the crisis, when a party made up of former allies of Mr Thaksin returned to power.
Gen Anupong's call on Wednesday for an election heightened speculation that another military coup could be imminent.
But the army chief denied that was his plan, saying the government still had "full authority".
A Thai court, meanwhile, has ordered the protesters occupying the city's main airport, Suvarnabhumi, to leave.
But the group - who belong to the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) - say they will stay until the government resigns.
They have brought in food and blankets and appear set for a long stay.
All flights have been cancelled and thousands of Thais and foreign tourists are stranded in the Thai capital.
Frustrated passengers have been sent to hotels until the airport, one of Asia's busiest, can reopen.
The blockade comes at the height of the tourist season and threatens an industry which is one of the country's biggest earners.
The campaign by the PAD, which began in earnest in May, has paralysed the Thai government.
The group - a loose alliance of royalists, businessmen and the urban middle class - claim that the government is corrupt and hostile to the monarchy.
They also accuse it of being a proxy for Mr Thaksin, who remains very popular among Thailand's rural poor.

It's not just the passengers that are stuck in Thailand, I can't get any courier/post service that can handle an international package at this time, DHL & Fedex say all operations in and out of Thailand are stopped. Apparently incoming DHL's are arriving at U-Tapao airport but customs aren't clearing anything so it's all piling up. Don't expect to receive any packages for a while when they finally tackle the backlog.
This f*cks my company up big time, I imagine there are many others in the same sh*t.
I heard on the grape vine that the incident in soi 3 has got taxi drivers up in arms, apparently many taxis are doing province runs to pick up anyone who wants to take a shot at PAD, apparently their attracting scary numbers. I fail to see how this won't kick off, one way or another.
If only we could talk about he who can't be talked about, I think a lot of people would get a wake up call and the PAD organisers would be running for their lives......from the ex PAD supporters.

Went to the airport today and it was a "no go." Asiana gave me the option of flying into Phuket instead - I would have taken them up on that one except for one thing: TG-USA is currently in Phuket! I'm brave but not that brave...
They also gave the option of flying into Phnom Phen, but I figured I wait another night and try again tomorrow, instead of a 'holiday in cambodia.'
Anyone have any hot tips for the nightlife in Inchon?

Gentlemen: Please help me out. I've only been half-assed keeping track of the political situation until recently. I'm no fan of Thaksin, but Somchai and his gang were just elected with no claims of fraud. If buying votes in the rural N is the problem, why doesn't PAD outbid them ? It's got to be a whole lot cheaper than what they've been paying for the last 6 months. Does the inaction of the police, military, and monarchy mean they are in support of PAD ? The Post says the Army is helpless. HELPLESS??? There's a good article in the Nation that says that PAD works to make Thailand ungovernable and then to blame the present crew for it's ungovernability. I'm also reading that the demonstrators are paid daily by some body with deep pockets. I just don't get it. wj

The PAD are idiots they will get what they deserve shortly. Not for long as Thai businessmen are adding up their losses on an hour basis. Thai support will drop for PAD as the money runs out, just like the Thai smile fades from the BG when your wallet is empty.

If T*ksin really does intend to name names then things will be very different in Thailand very quickly, initially a lot worse but eventually much better.

By the way, received the following comunique from a freind at Merrill Lynch a short time ago, it is UNCONFIRMED....

Meanwhile PM Somchai is in Chiang Mai holding a cabinet meeting and is expected to announce State of Emergency
It looks like the situation is taking a turn for the worse, but all this is unconfirmed."
