An Australian man has been jailed in Thailand for the shooting murder of an American tourist during a drunken quarrel.
William Douglas, 65, admitted to shooting Gary Poretsky, 46, in March this year after the two got into a drunken argument at a restaurant in the northern city of Chiang Mai.
Poretsky, from Hawaii, suffered three gunshot wounds to his face and chest.
A court on Monday18th Aug sentenced Douglas to two years and nine months in jail after deciding the murder was not premeditated.
He got off Light don't you think!

more importantly what happened to the bar that was open in the early hours serving alcohol ? Has it been shut down ? fined ? so the social order does work, if the bar had been closed like it should have been then these 2 farrangs would not have been up so late getting drunk and having a quarrel that ended badly.

On another note, so the Aussie had a gun on him, in the early hours, whilst drunk, and this was acceptable, no premeditation there, I guess he had it for self defense ?
No charges for the carrying of such a weapon ?
