Thai Airways promised Friday to pay $100,000 compensation to any passenger who gets infected with SARS while flying with the national carrier.

I wonder how one will prove that Sars was caught while on the flight.

My understanding is that the offer applies to incoming flights to Thailand. What really is the point, I wonder. Since the offer isn't available on outgoing flights it seems to imply that you might get infected IN Thailand and they won't compensate you for that. Which is a rather self-defeating offer since the govt claims there are no cases in Thailand. And, on incoming flights, even if a guy has just got the infection on the flight, chances are that it may not show up while he is tested at the airport because of the incubation period of a few days and then there is no way of proving he got it on the flight. I found Peter's post (on another thread)regarding airport tests at BKK, HK and Beijing very interesting. No tests on the way out, he says. Now we know that they don't want to know.
