Will normality(for the forum members) return gradually after the APEC meeting or will things stay 'Crackdowned'?
I notice it is still 2am closing after the last 'Crackdown'.
I am told that between 2am and 6am was the time when many small business Thais,restaurants and bars did a very good trade ?
Hungry tourists etc etc.
There was none of this 'everybody on the streets coz its chucking out time' either !
They'll end up bringing in English pub closing time next.
11pm for most places. Then sonny you've got twenty minutes to drink up or the big fat rozzer will come and get you !

Don't confuse a 'crackdown' because of perceived need to crackdown for a crackdown's sake, and a 'crackdown' because of an event, (APEC), which is perceived to need a crackdown because it is an improtant event.
Its important to be able to categorize your crackdowns correctly or we will all get lost in a long thread of abiguous crackdowns.
Crackdown 1, crackdown 2, or maybe crackdown A, crackdown B.
You could call them the 'Baby crackdown' and the 'Mother of all crackdowns'.
This crackdown and that crackdown is cool, until you get another crackdown then your f_cked.
Or maybe just crackedUP.

That is Crackdown 1 with the 2AM closing times, and limitations on underage girls etc... etc.. etc..
The APEC is Crackdown 2; the one that is trying to keep people like you off the streets of Bangkok by closing you GoGo joints and MPs, that will end after the brass go home.
I would bet that the expats (pinga/krypto?) and those who are out in smaller communities (like the sailors in Phuket) do not even notice crackdown.

BTW- It's still too early to say that this current crackdown is only cosmetic because of APEC. That may be true but from what I've been reading so far they seem to be extremely serious about this so I for one am putting off any more supposition on the matter until Nov. 1. If this is only a temporary thing then we should start seeing the signs by then.

I arrive NOV 19th and hope things are somewhat to normal by then.
2 am closeing times never really bothered me since liveing in the US all my life has got me used to such a rule. Some states have 1 am bar closings.
Not being able to get bjs or hjs in the bar in front of everyone is another no problem for me. I never liked seeing other guys willys hanging out anyways LOL.
Underage girls outta the bars and enforced a 100% good thing.
No nudity is somewhat of a bummer however if the top 3 rules are enforced to the letter I believe the nudity Might be tolarated t least topless.
Hopefully all will be well after this APEC but somewhat tamed

So many guys make a major investment in money and time to get to LOS. They know what the want to buy when they get here, and well before they leave home.
Imagine coming to California and they close the beach. The whole beach. The entire coast.
Or you go to Hawaii and they turn the surf off...to fix the plumbing.
Maybe you take your wife shopping in Paris and all, ALL the stores are closed.
Thailand like other countries is not just one feature, but some people pay/invest in travel to a country for the special 'something' that signifies the place to them.
Sure theres lots to do in Thailand but to invest in a holiday here means different aspects of Thailand must be in place, different aspects for different folks.
I am sure some guys will reconsider the investment choice for holidays, time being a factor also. Why invest in a FUTURE holiday that is not a sure return on your investment.
The quality of the P4P trade after APEC will be determined by the success of enforcement by authorities and whether the government receives positive feedback
from world leaders and associations.
In other words, if they feel pumped, they will not let up.

I guess the issue is that will the Thais miss the Tourist that invests his money in a trip for pussy. If they decide that this type of tourist is not wanted, then they will not care whether he gets 'value' for his money.
For some it is a quality of life issue, for others they just do not like Farangs, for most they do not really give a damn and will not miss the drunken slobs staggering up and down Sukumvit.
Even in Singapore with thier restrictive society there is great (though expensive) P4P, the right local can hook you up if he likes you.
This may be the direction that Bangkok will go (though I still think that Pattyia and Phuket will remain untouched).

Well as said a few times aready, the Sex Tourist buys more that pussy, such as goods and services.
But the money spent on pussy is not buying a product, just a service.That service happens to be between someone's legs but it's still a service.
A human being receives that money. A person who buys products and services themself. That magnifiesand multiplys itself down through the economy also.
That foreign currency doesn't just disappear. Its turned into GDP elsewhere in the country.
One thing fascinates me about BBK. My focus is the sex industry meaning that's what I am buying when I come to Thailand.
But if you look around BBK, there are industries everywhere. Go to Pratunaam clothing market sometime. I do business there. Its packed with industry not in the slightest way connected directly to the sex market.
Since the sex industry registers with me first and foremost, I am always a little surprised about how much of BBK doesn't give a shit about my small world, focused on sex.
Good for them! They are doing something productuve.
I think what we see of our own world and the things we are interested in blinds us to other lives and other worlds.
