I just caught an interesting article in the Soouth China Morning Post - seems that BKK governor Samak Sundaravej has decided to cleanse the street of BOTH the stray dogs and the homeless, by collecting both, and repatriating them into (separate) central 'accomodations' outside of BKK.

"There are no excuses for being a vagabond, everybody must have a place to live".-Gov. Samak Sudaravej
A plan to cleanse Bangkok aims to remove some 10,000 beggars, street prostitutes, and homeless children and adults from the streets over the next two weeks.

Still, I guess the positive side will be that there will be less beggars, loiterers, and begging kids in the street. I'm really looking forward to checking out BKK during that time, now.
