I am not so sure that this will be the 'death-knell' of the P4P industry in parts of Bkk. I think Nana may struggle but businesses will adapt. It certainly should not be too much of an inconvenience to local expats who may find that the earlier hours are beneficial to their health. If you want to carry on partying then Cowboy is still available, I believe. Soi 33 custom after 12 is minimal. The beer bars scattered around may suffer proportionately more than most go-go bars. It is clearly aimed at tourists rather than locals & a few of these may decide to move on to The Philippines etc. where the restrictions are not so draconian. I don't agree with the policy but I don't think it will 'kill' the pleasure scene. I will continue to come to Thailand - I may have to adjust my drinking hours. This will be no problem for me as I am a Brit and 7pm- midnight drinking is the norm!

For any bar to be open from 9:00 pm to midnight makes no sense. Any business would suffer and that means the environment in these places will change as well. If the bars in my area were open for 3 hours, it would be a serious issue. I'm waiting for the bar owners to bring a constitutional issue to the government on this, if its possible.

>In Bangkok, the zones designated for entertainment venues cover the Patpong >area and New Phetchaburi and Ratchadaphisek Roads. Man, why not NEP & Soi Cowboy {-_-}

I have not read the proposals in full but may be I should clarify a couple of my points. When I say Nana businesses will adapt that is a non-commital way of saying that they will either relocate or find another angle within which to operate. If the proposal is that some bars can only open for 3hrs then clearly they will not survive. I thought Cowboy was covered by the extended licence - obviously not. I still believe that life will go on and the local expats will not suffer too much from this other than the occasional inconvenience re. accessibility at certain times. Maybe nights out will need to be planned in advance rather than on the hoof, so to speak.

Quote from dragonmp11a10: ------------------------------------------------ Man, why not NEP & Soi Cowboy {-_-} ------------------------------------------------ because those are the main farang hangouts, the places they ultimately want to shut down. Quick Question How does this affect places like Privilege NHR? Do I have to go to dinner at 9pm if I want to drink? Is the place even going to be open before 9pm?

If Privilege Restaurant converted itself to a Khao Tom shop then it could open all night.

------------------------------------------------------------------ because those are the main farang hangouts, the places they ultimately want to shut down. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Ultimate wisdom..... and what about Patpong? A Thai hangout? If there is one place that is associated with farangs (including middle aged and elderly couples) it is Patpong.

Dr. Love Yeah you are right about Patpong, but I always considered that area (along with Thaniya) to cater more to the Japanese clientele. Sukhumvit mainly catering to the white farangs (European, and American customers) the ones who are putting the most pressure on this country to clean up its act. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how it is looking to me.
