Seems all the cynics predictions have come true, although there does not appear to be any deaths fortunately.
Personally I thought the underground was pretty good, although it is a bit worrying that it took 10 minutes to find keys to open the doors (according to an eye witness). If there had been fire it would have been carnage.

It is important that the staff (guards) carry keys at all times !

At the risk of sounding like I'm stereotyping, I think the operations of the subway should have been under experienced foreign hands for the first year. Not that Thais are incapable, but coming from a technical profession there's nothing scarier than a lot of rookies using dangerous equipment.
A one year apprenticeship might have had some benefit, but would have been costly to keep a foreign staff on hand. Then again you get what you pay for.

Finding the keys ~ I am not surprised because they had to fill out 10 forms and sign 5 times to get them.
Lucky no fire ~ amen to that because the operators have known about damaged equipment for some time and still havent fixed it yet!
But all in all it is a good system, designed to the highest standards. I hope this will not stop people from using it, although it will require some positive marketing
perhaps Mr Taskin should take the train everyday for a month?
