¶ BANGKOK (AP) --Gunmen in a pickup truck and motorcycles shot dead five soldiers at a military outpost Wednesday evening in the southern Thai province of Narathiwat, a Thai Army spokesman said. ¶ Initial reports had four soldiers killed, but the number has since been updated. ¶ Two other soldiers at the outpost were killed, said Col. Somkuan Saengpataranetr. ¶ The attackers, presumed to be Islamic insurgents who are active in the area, shot the men with assault rifles and then escaped, laying metal spikes and logs on the road to thwart pursuers, he said. ¶ The victims were members of the paramilitary Ranger force, as were four other soldiers killed in an ambush last week in nearby Yala province.

Observation........watch CNN or BBC and daily the headlines are about how many dead in Iraq. The world has decided that unless the USA and England and Al Queda are involved nothing else matters. Thais are killed DAILY in the South and the only news that gets out is WHAT IF it spreads to the tourist areas?? Sad.
