According to Stickman the Jehovah's Witnesses have targeted NEP !

If you had the misfortune to see the bible thumpers who once again stood outside the entrance to Nana Plaza preaching their words, you would have heard something to this effect. I can't imagine what the Thais think of this carry on!

Every year I get these 'characters' knocking on my door as they have their major UK convention at the Rugby Ground. Now I believe people should have the freedom to believe in what they like but this crowd have a mission to convert and show a deaf ear to anybody else. They also 'kick-in' straight off as if you have never heard of the bible (they have their 'own' version) or been brought up a Christian. I usually start by telling them about my belief in reincarnation.'On a Clear Day You can See the Go-go poles' ?
So what do you say when one is confronted by this hard sell of religion?
A few suggestions:-

When they rant and rave about fornication etc:-

I have never been offended by the proselytizing. I've always found the Winesses very polite - in fact, I consider them very decent people.
I'm an atheist, so I have no axe to grind.
I do not go along with the idea that we should insult them or mock them. And making fun of their women is pretty low (would you not agree Hermanlobo?).

Well they woke me one sunday morning knocking at my door.
I got up in my bath robe and answered the door. I think I was still drunk or I would have clicked in to do this.
They knock at the door and I got them to leave.
After I kicked myself for not taking an interest in what they had to offer.
Of course that would have included me letting my bathrob open up so my private parts were showing 
I wonder how long they would have tried to convert me while my robe was open

When I lived in Los Angeles we had a particularly aggressive group of pushing their Watchtowers who would normally not take no for an answer.
One Sunday I was entertaining the local Monsignor and when they knocked he offered to answer the door. When he opened the door and before they could launch into their spiel he handed them a rosary and said 'Great! You are just in time, we have not started yet.'
Needless to say they went flying down the street and never knocked again...
BTW: Next time they are preaching at Nana, wait for the appropriate break and shout 'Let's hear it for Sin!' Once the cheers die down move on to Big Dogs.

I don't think they are as nice as they make out. They have some funny ideas. I'm surprised the Monsignor did not invite them in for a drink as well? They are very partial from the priests I know ! Well done that Monsignor ! They wouldn't last long with a Theological argument from the priest anyway. Their training is very difficult and they have to know their stuff. He would have sorted them about this Joseph Smith character. Informed them that Freemasonry and Christianity don't mix. I have heard that Smith was a Mason? The JW goal in life is to convert somebody, and as many as they can. It is real foot-in-the-door salesman stuff. I moan about Catholic guilt and stuff but at least they are the genuine article if you like that sort of thing? Scientologists ? Now they are another funny bunch with a lot of pseudo-psychology from that e-meter thing. John Travolta and Tom Cruise are well into it. Yet another cult. I suppose the Moonies will turn up next. Have you Mooned a Moonie ? Have you seen these Volunteer Tourist Police ? Same save the World mentality? My mates' skipper went balistic when he saw them. He takes being a copper very seriously. Prostitution is about 4,000 years old. Hence the name 'The oldest Profession' while there are humans I doubt whether it will go out of fashion !

I am no expert on theology, but I believe Joseph Smith was the founder of the Mormon church, not JW.
