Report from Bangkok Post dated Sunday 29 October 2006 :- Extended smoking ban begins Dec 29, 2006 ========================== The Minister of Public Health confirmed on Saturday that anti-smoking laws will be widely extended on Dec 29, 2006 to take in almost all public areas and additional private rooms. Mongkol Na Songkhla, the minister, kicked off a new anti-smoking campaign focussing on the danger of the second-hand smoke on close family members. He told reporters at the event he had ordered aggressive enforcement of new laws which extend the ban on smoking, with violators facing an on-the-spot fine of 2,000 baht. The new ban extends no-smoking areas to more public places, but also includes public areas not currently covered. As of Dec 29, the law forbids smoking in transportation terminals, public parks, bus stops, sports stadiums, hotel lobbies, and traditional massage parlours. Health police "will take immediate action against violators," the minister said.

Report from Bangkok Post dated Friday 29 December 2006 :- Anti-smoking bans extended today ( 29.12.2006 ) =============================== Carefree days for tobacco puffers in Thailand are going up in smoke. Starting today, the law banning smoking in virtually all public places comes into force. Public Health Minister Mongkol Na Songkhla called on law enforcement agencies and entertainment venues to strictly enforce the law. Owners of entertainment venues failing to comply with the law may be subject to between 10,000-20,000 baht fine and those who puff a cigarette despite the law may have to pay a fine of 2,000 baht. Thailand has one of the toughest anti-smoking laws in the world. It is at the forefront of the region's anti-smoking campaign and has enacted a host of restrictions on the tobacco industry including bans on cigarette advertisements, bans on smoking in most public places and requirements that all cigarette packs include graphic photos depicting the ill effects of tobacco on health. Last year the government banned cigarette displays at points of sale, making Thailand was the third country worldwide to do so. During a press conference on Wednesday, Dr Mongkol said that smoking claimed 52,000 lives yearly as a result of cancer and heart disease. The government has to foot the bills of over 50 billion baht to treat those with lung cancer, heart disease and emphysema. “To make sure that the law is carried out to the letter, we need cooperation from all involved. If there is not a clear sign-posting, or no proper smoking zone and non-smoking zone in public places, owners of such venues would be liable to fines,” said Dr Mongkol. Virtually all public places would be declared non-smoking zones under the new restriction which becomes effective today, except personal offices, private rooms and designated smoking rooms.

Report from The Nation dated Friday 29 December 2006 :- Smokers forbidden to light up in public areas =========================== From now on, smokers will find it harder than ever to find a place to light up because every public area will be a smoke-free zone following the latest ministerial order from the Public Health Minister. According to the order, which takes effect today, offenders will face a Bt2,000 fine, while owners who allow smoking on their premises or fail to place a no-smoking notice will be charged up to Bt20,000. The ban forbids smoking on public transport, at bus stops, in elevators, public phone booths, libraries, theatres, children's playgrounds, drugstores, meeting rooms, massage parlours and spas. Smoking in indoor stadiums is also banned - excluding snooker rooms. The ban on smoking also includes schools and educational institutes. Air-conditioned areas in art exhibition halls, galleries, museums, shopping malls, barbershops, Internet cafes and karaoke booths are also no-smoking zones. The ban includes the lobbies of hotels, resorts, condominiums, apartments and restaurants, excluding entertainment areas. Smokers are still allowed to smoke in their personal offices, individual rooms or rooms provided as smoking areas. Public Health Minister Mongkol na Songkhla yesterday held a press conference to launch the 17th ministerial order and place no-smoking labels at Hua Lampong Railway Station. He said 52,000 Thais died a year from smoking-related diseases, especially lung cancer and heart disease. It cost the country more than Bt50 billion in healthcare services for patients with lung cancer, heart disease and emphysema. A no-smoking law has already been enforced in covered areas of restaurants and public places that were air-conditioned. "This ministerial order has added more no-smoking places. The ban is to protect the health of non-smoking people from 4,000 kinds of toxin in tobacco smoke," the minister said. Mongkol encouraged anyone witnessing an offence to call 02-590-3342. Mongkol has also tried every means to reduce alcohol consumption. Even though the Council of State's ruling invalidated his ministry's Food and Drug Administration-initiated move to comprehensively ban alcohol advertising, the ministry is exploring other legal channels.

I'm an xsmoker 3X on/off. I'm from a region where tobacco is king and the vast majority of people used to smoke. Here in my home town we make cigaretts by the truck load all day long. We all have known that the tobacco giants have sprayed chemicals and additives onto the tobacco prior to making the little buggers. We also knew the chemicals were not intended to help but to hook. We also all know that the top officers of the top tobacco companies lied to the US Congress and have created a product that is designed to hook the customers and the end result is a premature death for many of them. When I smoked I felt smoking was a personal right and if someone wanted to smoke, it's was up to them. Now that I'm nicotine free again, I'm on the other side. Smoking is a bad habit. I can smell smokers and some of them stink. The medical costs are shared by all of us yet the tobacco companies still pull in great profits. Most all smokers throw their butts down anywhere and anytime they want. They start fires both in their homes and outside. Some of the people I work with hack and cough, some rumble deep down inside. They also don't miss a chance to grab a quick puff when ever they can. I love seeing the people with the oxygen bottles in one hand and a pack of cigaretts in their pocket. I tease my old friend "The Nose", "Man you snort up the big green bottle just so you can suck on the cancer stick. Man you sure do know how to have fun." To me second hand smoke outside isn't a problem. Inside, like in bars it can be smelly and the place stinks afterwards. I do feel a smoking ban inside public buildings and places of employment should be controlled. Smoking outside should be allowed if we are going to allow smoking at all. I've never seen a bar with enough smoke to rival the exhaust some buses put out. Chewing tobacco is the next great "hook", there are more chemicals in it than the smoking type ever had. Got to go, I've been on my soap box toooo long Shamas O'Dognasty

Too bad I don’t like smoke and don’t smoke myself, but the smoke ban is not very good ether not in the bars pubs discos nightclubs e.t.c Tobacco really stinks and is not very pleasant but It doesn’t stop with smoke ban when health preaching freaks had won this battle then they start over bars e.g. get bright light not dingy dark and then there are no more booze and drinking and sex oh no no.... Edit: the text that was here before didn`t make any sense at all So getting rid of the smoke is nice but have the side effects of smoke ban are not. I rather live with the smoke than dies of boredom.... bläähhh

Report from The Nation dated Tuesday 29 May 2007 :- Fewer smokers now =============== The number of Thai smokers has fallen by nearly 40 per cent in the past 20 years as a result of strict enforcement of seven anti-smoking laws and effective awareness campaigns, Public Health Ministry deputy permanent secretary Manit Theeratantikanont said yesterday. There are now 9.54 million people aged 15 years or older who smoke daily, compared with 11.7 million smokers in 1987. Of the 9.54 million current smokers, 4.5 million are chain smokers and suffer from lung cancer and related diseases, he added. On World No Tobacco Day on Thursday, the Health Ministry will focus on curbing second-hand smoke and raising awareness about its harmful effects, in line with the World Health Organisa-tion's (WHO) theme for this year. Local campaigns will include strengthening measures of all seven anti-smoking laws, Manit told a Bangkok seminar heralding the ministry's anti-smoking campaigns. WHO's global motto for the No Tobacco Day this year is "100% Smoke-Free Environments: Create and Enjoy" while the ministry's message is "Without cigarette smoke, the environment is good and life is fresh and clear". HRH Princess Somsawali will preside over Thursday's No Tobacco Day events at MBK Centre in Pathum Wan from 11am to 7pm. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will jointly enforce more no-smoking zones in public areas in Bangkok, especially in Chatuchak Market and other BMA-regulated marketplaces. There are now 18 "quit smoking" clinics in BMA-run public health centres across the capital. Of the 1,915 smokers who sought assistance from the clinics, 815 managed to quit, according to the BMA, which has been operating the centres for two years.

Quote: from Dpulse on 4:11 am on Jan. 6, 2007 ut the criteria for being to drunk is speaking shuddery and not walking good bumping into people too bad if you have a speech problem and hurt your foot you cant drink in a bar in Sweden!
....and how many people fit that rather odd category? Always amusing to see the strange scenarios alcoholics (or other addicts) resort to, in order to justify themselves.

The answer is "No" because blowjobs is NOT cancerous or dangerous to your health as your 'pipe' does not contain nicotine or tar...... So, carry on blowjobbing !
