I have cribbed this from the Internet: Until the dreadful events in Burma. It was almost a certainty. Probably just delayed till the Autumn?

He does not wish to fight all the charges against him, he knows that he will surely lose. Then what can he do? Well, just change the constitution and he will be off the hook. Very simple.
Simply put, there are some powerful people who will not allow him to change the constitution just to save his own skin.
A coup? Overthrow an elected government? Again? Ordinarily NO, but it this case a big YES since the politicians have somehow misunderstood their purpose: Politicians are here to serve the country, they are not here to serve themselves.
If Abhisit were a real leader he would go on CNN and explain the need for a coup. Would someone please fire this nice person and get a leader with teeth.
The situation is highly unstable. If things continue like this for much longer there will be no Thailand. The question is: Is the thai people going to allow just one single selfserving individual to cause division in Thailand? "

A coup?
Possibly. But first the one of whom you speak of needs to get his footie business squared away. An 8-1 loss against a team that was on the cusp of regulation? He has bigger problems than how Samak is doing now  .
Seriously, I do not believe that there will be another coup whilst the King is still is within his facilities. The effect of the last coup was too negative and I do not see the King approving of another.
However if the King should fall seriously ill or die, a coup is surely in the cards...

There is one valid point in this whole stream of consciousness - specifically that someone should step up and explain to 'The World' why a coup is necessary.
I am reminded from the last coup, how quickly the Bush Administration condemned Thailand for doing away with Democracy (ha!), and how all the other sheep in the West fell into the same row...
The problem which this anonymous uncredited author fails to understand, is that it is not easy for Abhisit, or anyone else, to step up and explain the need for a coup, without getting arrested, or worse.
Still, another set of military keystone cops playing government would be entertaining - maybe they won't screw it up like last time (when they had every chance to turn things around, but they messed them up worse).
Then again, Samak's really making a farce of his position, and of Thailand - I really do wonder how many of those who voted for Samak, thinking they are voting for Thaksin, feel now?

I have no opinion but the last time I heard the idea that another coup was coming was from the Bangkok based in-laws when we visited them at Songkran....they weren't happy about the idea but seemed to think it was on the cards.....
