Andy was world champ in 2002,2003,2004. Irons took a sabbatical from the world surfing tour last year to battle a drug addiction, before returning to competition this year I'm sticking to alcohol, nobody dies from that

Then I suggest you get out more as it kills more than any other drugs. Methodon will kill you if you overdose which is possible with alcohol as well. Only not possible with cannabis no case ever recorded which is supposadly a dangerous drug

My point was in relation to dropping down dead or dying in ones own vomit all possible with alcohol and instantanious. Smoking takes much longer so is an indirect cause. Anyway I did not mean smoking it.

I posted it here as he was "known to have played with girls in asia several times (making him a brother of world reknown sorts) Also the cause of death might have been a mix of dengue fever and/or drugs- He had inner demons- And lastly, it was just topical news that illustrates "LIFE CAN BE SHORT"....maybe message is to live it some? Heres the latest on the story below. Authorities probe drug link in Irons's death Updated November 4, 2010 07:08:00 Irons, 32, was found dead in a hotel room in Dallas. (Reuters: A drug link has emerged in the investigation into the sudden death of three-time world champion surfer Andy Irons, according to US media reports. One of the sport's greatest athletes, Irons, 32, was found dead in a hotel room in Dallas, Texas two days after withdrawing from the world tour event in Puerto Rico because of severe illness. Local officials said the cause of death was not immediately known but Hawaii's Star Advertiser reported that his death was being investigated as a possible overdose of methadone, citing information provided by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. The ABC contacted the Star Advertiser, which stands by its report that methadone was found, along with other medications, on a nightstand in the hotel room. The methadone was found inside a container of a prescription drug called zolpidem. Zolpidem is commonly used for insomnia, while methadone is a powerful controlled substance used for pain and the treatment of heroin addiction. Irons took a sabbatical from the world surfing tour last year to battle a drug addiction, before returning to competition this year. Dengue fever Irons had earlier withdrawn from the Rip Curl Search event due to dengue fever, which earlier reports suggested was the likely cause of death. Infectious disease expert Robert Booy says while dengue fever can be fatal, the chances of Irons dying from the virus are rare. "This is a rare event because this is a quite a common disease; 2.5 billion people are at risk of being bitten by the mosquito that caries the dengue fever virus, and indeed about 100 million people develop the illness every year," he said. "But only about 25,000 to 50,000 of the 100 million die. So well under 1 per cent are a fatality, and 90 per cent of fatalities are in children." But Professor Booy said if Irons had previously contracted the virus, as reported, this would increase the chances of a fatality. "The first time you get it you tend to have only a fever and maybe a mild rash, headache, muscle and bone aches," he said. "The second time you get it you can get a much more severe form, called dengue hemorrhagic fever, where you actually get bleeding into the skin, and into the organs inside the body as well as the fever and other muscle and joint pains and that can lead to shock and even to death." Irons is survived by his wife Lyndie Dupuis, who is due to give birth to their first child, a boy, next month.

Diversifying for a moment from a fellow ( now ex) surfer’s death; has anybody smoked cannabis, or, taken cocaine ? In what way are these drugs “pleasurable’ compared to alcohol ( am only familiar with alcohol) ? ----------------------------------------------------------------- cocaine is an upper while cannabis is a downer togeather with heroin and alcohol. I dont like the way alcohol makes me feel the next day especially when im working so I prefer small amounts of cannabis to unwind. Im quite happy drinking though if ive nothing better to do.
