Heres a Xmas eve news clip that is somewhat disturbing- North Korea is prepared to launch a "sacred war" based on its nuclear deterrent, the North's state media says amid heightened tensions on the Korean peninsula. "The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK are getting fully prepared to launch a sacred war of justice of Korean style based on the nuclear deterrent at anytime necessary to cope with the enemies' actions deliberately pushing the situation to the brink of a war," the Korean Central News Agency

About how close is it from Japan to Thailand? Unfortunately maybe It's going to be on topic again. I just saw some disturbing news from Japan Non working cooling at nuke plant with some explosions and reports about filling reactor with seawater with firetrucks seem desperate. Lets hope It's just media overreacting. Of course it's sad what happened in Japan but I'm just curious about fallout possibility's from Japan to Thailand But I think Thailand I out of reach. Where I now live in Sweden (I live outside Gävle) They still measuring Tjernobyl fallout. Bad luck 25 years ago with rain ) -: but the good news is that little more than half of it is gone by now. I hope I didn't trigger any post traumatic stress for the poor people involved in the 2004 south Thailand Indonesia Tsunami disaster.

With 3 reactors suffering cooling failures, and one now in the supposed process of a full meltdown, with supposed containment failure (all 3 have suffered partial meltdown), there is a strong likelyhood of serious radiation leakage. There has been minor radiation released from venting of the reactors to releave the pressure, with cessium measured in these releases it is assumed they have had partial meltdowns as that is how cessium is produced. If there is a full meltdown then the puddle of superheated uranium that would form at the base of the containment vessle could burn through the containment. If this happens then it could release very hazzardous levels of radiation, and depending on which way the wind was blowing could determine if Thailand was in any danger. Right now the winds are blowing out over the Pacific, and at times blowing over Tokyo also, but they haven't blown in the direction of Thailand yet, with Thailand only being in danger if there is a full meltdown, and the puddle of uranium burns though the containment vessle, then there is still the possibility of containment. This is not like the Chernobyle accident that had absolutely no containment vessle what-so-ever, and spread radiation all over Europe, and the world, these reactors do have containment vessles, and every effort is being taken to not have an uncontrolled radiation release. All the releases so far have been done in a controlled manner to reduce the publics exposure. There are a few workers that are in serious danger, but it could be worse. This has now went past 3 mile island's classing as the second most serious nuclear accident, with Chernobyle still at number one. Lets just hope that if it gets worse that the wind still blows out over the Pacific. The environmental toll will be great no matter where the wind blows, but at least out over the Pacific will save a lot of people from developing Thyroid cancer, the most prevelant effect of radioactive iodine ingestion, the radioactive byproduct released into the air from a meltdown, and containment breach, along with cessium.
