Intelligence agencies are poring over a journal found at Osama bin Laden's compound that contains his handwritten notes about future operations, a US official said Wednesday.
Among a trove of material seized in a raid that killed the al-Qaeda chief was "a booklet where bin Laden wrote down his operational ideas," the US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.
The notebook was not a diary and did not include personal or emotional details, the official said.
There were no "warm and fuzzy" passages, he said.
It was "more just jotting down some ideas".
"It doesn't entail where he's been or what he's done," the official added.
The official sought to play down the importance of the notebook, given the plethora of computers, hard drives, DVDs, flash drives and recording devices hauled away in the US raid this month.
"It's just one notebook. And it's just one of many things" found at the compound in the Pakistani garrison town of Abbottabad, the official said.

Some will never learn. The common denominator is Islam fundamentalism. Whatever other petty differences you might spot, they have one thing in common and that is the destruction of all kafirs (non-believers). Similarly there are hundreds of splinter gangs and sleeper cells in EVERY country : studying, targeting, plotting, waiting, striking.
QQ, how long are you and your ilk going to argue that these groups are different from one another just because you focus on their targets rather than their common motive ? You look at them differently and you straightaway make the mistake of devising different remedies for different groups ("their" terrorism and "our" terrorism).
No way that's going to work because that's just how they want you to think. That's just how they want to muddle you and fragment your efforts. Look at them all as ONE and you can focus the world's collective energy on devising a common strategy. Most importantly, wean away the common Muslims, introduce democratic ways and means in their lands and support (economically, politically, strategically, militarily) those that are willing to learn. And there are millions of them Muslims who are not like the radicals. The radicals thrive and flourish due to an inherent weakness in the political system.
